blocking viewers

I am wondering how or if I can block certain people from seeing my blog and if so can I then change the setting later?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
We cannot block or delete subscribers from public blogs. Everyone on the internet can view and follow any public blog. That is in fact what the public designation means.
You can change your blog visibility to “private” http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ Please read this about public blogs that become private blogs > Blog Privacy and Subscribers > http://wpcommaven.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/blog-privacy-and-subscribers/
Note that you have complete control over everything that’s posted to your blog.

Thanks. I am writing a blog about my experience as my daughter is gone for a year abroad and did not want her to be able to view the blog until she was home. Not good for her to read while she is gone, could make her sad or homesick. That is why I was hoping she could not see it. If I make it private, it looks like people would need to be invited but I would have to do that right? They would not see an option to ask to be invited?
