Blockquotes vs. Backticks

Blockquotes vs. backticks. Should they be differentiated more than this?
Here is an example of a blockquote:
Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe. Here is an example of code inside backticks:
if(preg_match("/[a-zA-Z0-9_-.+]+@[a-zA-Z0-9-]+.[a-zA-Z]+/", $foobar) > 0) echo 'yay!';The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I think the indent on the blockquotes would be a good idea. Doesn’t have to be too much. A left margin of about 20px seems to look good.

Thanks for the feedback. I think the shading without an extra left margin is good for the forums, but I agree with auxclass about blockquotes being indented on a blog in general.

I missed the slight shading on my monitor, had to go back and look again to see that there was some shading. Visually was not set apart. I would vote for a slight indent even in the Forums.
Thanx

Yes, I agree. The blockquote with the shading is distinct from the backticks in the forums.
On blogs, an indent for blockquotes make them more easily recognizable as different from the rest of a post.

I missed the slight shading on my monitor,
Indents in these forums would make them look more complicated. Perhaps just a little darker shading.
And perhaps a little darker border around the backticks. -
I am really, really lazy and always use backticks because one keystroke is way easier than 12.
