‘Blocks’
-
Please help me remove the block testing from my blog page. It is incredibly frustrating and completely removes any desire I have to continue with WordPress. Once I add an image, it ruins my formatting and puts the words in the text together likethis to the point where I have to re-write the entire text. In addition, I can’t figure out how to remove the picture once it is in the block without removing the text. Once I add pictures, it also pushes my text out of the page. I have to reference the word document where I write my information originally to make sure my entire blog actually posted what I meant to say – thankfully I do this because if I wrote in the block itself who knows what is missing? Hi nxlloyd –
Sorry for the frustration! It’s pretty simple to switch back and forth between the classic editor and Gutenberg. Just click on the
...in the upper right hand corner of the editing screen – from there, you are going to see a menu pop up, and the last menu item is what you are looking for. CalledSwitch to Classic Editor.Write back to me here if you are still having trouble getting back in to the classic view.

Additionally, it’d be great if you can send me a link to the post where you were having such issues, or even create a new draft post that I could investigate. Or grab a screen shot and add it to your media library – This way, I can pass along the feedback to our developers for further testing.

I have the same problem. The method for creating posts has become impossible. WordPress was a simple pleasure to use – now I just want to throw in the towel. I do not want to know how to use blocks, which don’t work and are intensely frustrating, as nxlloyd said, I want to know how to remove them and use the system I am used to. I have looked everywhere in settings and cannot find a way to remove blocks. I can’t understand why anyone thought this was a good idea.

I now also realise I have lost facilities I had before. Verses of lyrics or poetry were automatically double-spaced in WP, so I clicked the tab to remove the gaps in the coded page. Now I can’t do this.

I too am extremely frustrated with these “blocks” and my website will not revert back to the classic editor. I have things in which I need to update for paying customers and am unable to access any of the material on my page using this new system. There is no way to access Page Builder which I have used to build my entire website. I cannot get to classic editor at all. This is a HUGE issue for me as I have paying customers and my entire business reputation is based on my ability to quickly respond to customer needs.
I need help immediately. If someone from support can look at http://www.schoolpsychclickreport.com and get me back to my original editing method it would be greatly appreciated. My customers and getting very angry with me and I with wordpress.

Hi folks, no problem; please switch back to Classic as Liz indicated; this is available for sites hosted on our servers.
If you don’t have that option you’re likely running your own copy of WordPress.org, which is different.
If you’re having trouble with the new editor in your own WordPress installation, this may help: https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/
I’d recommend checking the support forum here for further assistance:

Thank you, supernovia, much appreciated. I have installed Classic Editor in both my WordPress sites and all is as it should be again. Now I can see what I’m doing and it *works*. Please, if you can, pass on to the appropriate people in WordPress not to make such radical changes again – what we had already works just fine.
