BLOCKS
-
All of a sudden I find I’m strong-armed into accepting blocks!?
I’m not computer savvy enough to claw my way through learning to set up a simple post as I was able to do with your classic format —and at 79 I don’t have the time screw around with it. I knew and was comfortable with your former system. So, now I’ve spent the last hour or so jumping through your hoops trying to create a post that is simple and simpatico with all my previous posts and find I’m lost in the morass of BLOCKs!
Can’t I just have my old ‘classic’ wordpress back?!

Hey @jimculleny,
If you have a business plan on WordPress.com you can install the “Classic Editor” again as a plugin.
Your other option is to try the Classic Block instead:

Hi folks, the Classic Editor in the MySite dashboard was a WPcom in-house product that has been retired. The block editor, which has been the default editor for the open-source WordPress software since version 5.0 was released in December 2018, is now also the default editor for all sites on WordPress.com.
The original WP Editor is currently available to you in the WP Admin dashboard via the plugin that WPcom installed for us. Be aware that it is, at best, a temporary solution. According to the WP.org site, the plugin will be officially maintained until December 31, 2021. However, we users do not know what will happen after that time and we do not know if it will be in use here until that time.
So if you choose to write in WP Admin’s Classic editor, start dabbling in the Classic block, https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/ or the full Block Editor https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/ in a test post or page. The more you use it, the easier it will become. FWIW – it took me a few tries and adjusting some settings, like pinning the block toolbar, to make the interface less frenetic, but I only use the Block Editor now.
Post back here if you have any other questions.
