BLOCKS

All I want to do is turn off blocks. I don’t write in blocks. Paragraphs are necessary to my style, but everytime I hit my enter button a new block starts. This drives me crazy.

    Hi there,

You have an option to move from block editing and use the old classic editor. However, it goes without saying that this editor is on its way out, and may not be supported for long, hence it’s good to try and get accustomed to the new editor or at least the classic block.

To get the old classic editor, navigate to https://wordpress.com/me/account, and activate the dashboard appearance as illustrated in the image below

    Hello,

Thanks for bringing this issue to the forum’s attention. I know how frustrating it can be to have to manage so many individual paragraph blocks for some simple text.

I’ve found two solutions that work for me:

    1. Instead of hitting enter to start a new line, try pressing Shift+Enter. Because of some technical formatting magic, this won’t start a new block. The downside being it won’t have as big of a gap between lines as only using the Enter key, but I get away with this by doing the Shift+Enter combo twice.

    2. Perhaps you’re more used to using the Classic Editor. If that is the case then follow this guide to learn how to be able to use it instead of the Block Editor.

Hope this helps you. Let me know if you need anything else :D.
