    Hi Jodi,

Your WordPress.com site’s name is XXXXXXXXXXdotnet.wordpress.com. This is what you registered with us when you started the site.

However your custom domain, XXXXXXXXXX.net, is active and mapped properly, so you should see the correct URL in your address bar now.

It can take up to 72-hours for changes you make to your domain to appear online. Since you recently purchased and mapped your custom domain, this is why you weren’t able to see it mapped correctly for a little while.

I hope this helps! Best wishes to you.

    Hi thatrobyn,

I appreciate the response. You say that is the name that I registered with you, but I never personally typed in the dotnet part. Is that something that generates itself when it is created?

I am asking mainly because I have several other blogs but they are all .com blogs and this is the first one where the .com name was not available so I clicked on the .net option you offered instead.

    Hello there!

Because you have a custom domain, it doesn’t actually matter what your WordPress.com site is called. Because you’ve mapped your domain to your blog, users will only see XXXXXXXXX.net in their address bar. The “dotnet” will not be visible to anyone but you when you log into your WordPress.com account.

If you view your WordPress.com blog online right now, you’ll see how to name will appear to your visitors.

I appreciate the response. You say that is the name that I registered with you, but I never personally typed in the dotnet part. Is that something that generates itself when it is created?

I suspect what happened was that when you tried to register XXXXX.wordpress.com, the site name was unavailable and WordPress.com asked if you wanted XXXXXdotcom.wordpress.com as an alternative. While that was confirmed by you, you can certainly change your WordPress.com site name by following the steps here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

But as I said, adjusting your blog URL is an unnecessary step as nobody will ever see it but you.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much and happy blogging!

I am getting so frustrated with this. WordPress actually gave me XXXXXXXX.net as a choice. I clicked it on from their link and thoughts everything was okay until after signing in to see that it was listed as XXXXXXXXdotnet.

I would have chosen one of the other options if I had know this was the case. I had multiple names to choose from at the time. I have tried changing it like you said, and it keeps telling me I can only use lower case letters and numbers. Of course that is what I am using and I have no way of changing the address. This is so frustrating. Please help me.

Jodi, I need to use your domain names to explain this, so I’m going to move the discussion to a private email. Please keep an eye out in your email box. Thanks!
