Blog Address Change

  I would like to change the blog URL below that I do not use to the blog URL that I do use…I created it with a dummy name because I had another page with the name I wanted. I own the domain and will be taking down the first site as soon as I am ready to fix this name and attach it to the domain hosting I already paid for.

  Is it possible to change the first portion of a blog address? Or do I have to creat a new one? Example: Change from AcmeBlog.wordpress.com to CoolestBlogNameEver.wordpress.com

  And if I can, how do I do it?

  If you want to change the blog address ie. the URL starting with http:// then you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to do that and the URL you desire must be available. If so then you can change the URL by using this guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

  Also note what follows please.

  There is no expiration date on blogs unused, *reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting on the blog, then providing the owner is agreeable there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

  In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

  If you are not successful, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

  *reserved blogs
  When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.
