blog address changes after registration

I added the free wordpress blog account and I put in a blog address similar to “freeblog.com”, at a cost of 18.00. however after I clicked confirmation I was direct to the next screen which was having me map the blog to my domain. I noticed at the top it had the blog address of “freeblog.wordpress.com at the top. Why did they change it and is this the true address. I really want to market the address I created?

it was the blog address, and it should have been “kentsmortgageblog.com” However, it was changed to “kentsmortgageblog.wordpress.com” ?
