Blog address – getting the domain name to show and not wordpress name

I am confused on how to get my wordpress blog to show as http://www.sacrednavigator.com and now robin8338.wordpress.com
I host my domain name with Genesis and my husband had the domain name over there POINT to the wordpress site. But when postings go out to social media, etc., it is still showing as robin8338.wordpress.com so I know there is something internal in the set up I need to correct. Went to SETTINGS and I was just confused on what to change or fix. Can you help?

WordPress.COM blogs do not have permanent IP addresses. IP addresses here can and do can change over time and your domain may stop working if you rely on them. For more information about domain mapping and IP addresses please read https://en.support.wordpress.com/ip-addresses/

    re: mapping an existing domain
All wordpress.com blogs are on .wordpress.com subdomains.
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.

If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it, and also renew the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL. If you do not register a .wordpress.com blog URL first then the software supplies the dot whatever URL so you can proceed with your domain mapping purchase.

    See https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/

Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/

Your only options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
