Blog Address Options in Setup?
-
I want to create a free, hosted blog on wordpress.com. I’ve done this many times in the past, so I know the overall routine. What has me stumped, in 2019, is the part of the setup routine where I choose an address. What happened to ‘myblog.wordpress.com’? I don’t see that as an option, I see only paid options and I’m not interested in paying until I think I might continue with the blog long term. Can someone tell me what I’m missing, please?

As a general rule when creating a new site and choosing “Blog” you’ll be offered a free site ending in .home.blog or similar (below the two paid-for options). Choosing “Business” should (depending if the word/phrase you choose is available) get the free .wordpress.com option.

But alas, no, I’m still stuck with *.family.blog, or *.home.blog. I tried several different keywords, and they all end up looking amateurish and unprofessional. I guess I’ll have to find another hosting service, which is too bad since I have been using WP, off and on, for at least 10 years.
Sometimes “progress” isn’t progress.
