Blog Admin access no longer available for one of my blogs
-
Hi-
Not sure if these issues are even related, but I recently started another blog, creating the new account with a different e-mail address/gravatar/etc. because it’s for a professional site separate from the other two blog sites.Since doing that, I can no longer access one of my sites. The problem is that I can’t log into (or post/change/etc.) my talkingtrumpet.wordpress.com site. The other blog/site, http://www.ThePracticeOfPractice.com, works just fine.
I can’t get to the dashboard (or anything else) on the other blog. Tried loggin in and out and using various browsers, and searching the forums, but nothing has worked.
Please help. Thanks in advance.

Me too. I’ll follow the answers to your forum question. I’ve been shut out of my blog for a couple months. http://www.lincolndemocrat.com.
I tried once to get into the forums but that led only to getting this message which is all I see when I try to open my blog:
@include_once(‘client.php’);
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/hwelty/public_html/wp-includes/cache.php:488) in /home/hwelty/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 934When I reset my password just now I found a new blog name for me lincolndemocrat2.wordpress.com. It has none of the nine year’s worth of content I poured into my blog.
I don’t wan’t to horn in on your dilemma but maybe we have the same or a similar problem.

If you’re using new email address to create the new site, it make sense if you no longer able to access the other two blog sites, since the email address is not the administrator of the two blog you mention.

@Harry Welty
It looks like you’re not hosting your blog at wordpress.com. http://www.lincolndemocrat.com/ is a self hosted wordpress.
This forum provide support for WordPress.COM (service) users only. If you’re using a self-hosted WordPress.ORG (software), visit this page to get support: https://wordpress.org/support/
Please note that you need separate account in wordpress.org forums. You can create new account at https://wordpress.org/support/register.php
To learn about the difference between wordpress.COM (wordpress as service) and wordpress.ORG (wordpress as software), please check : https://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Thanks, elte, but I’m a bit more experienced than that. :-)
I’m using the correct login and usrname for the blog I’m shut out of.

It’s still functioning properly, too (http://www.talkingtrumpet.wordpress.com). I just can’t get Admin access, WP just dumps me to the other site dashboard with no option to switch.
I do get to see the dropdown menu from the blog page, so I’m logged in to the system, and it recognizes this IP addr and my overall access, I just can’t get to the Admin dashboard.
I cleared my cache, re-launched Chrome (preferred browser), and tried also on Firefox. No go. I’ll try a full reboot next, but it’s hard to imagine how that will affect anything. Still trying! :-)

I have informed support staff to take a look into your problem. Please subscribe to this topic using the link on the sidebar to receive email notification once there is reply.

The issue is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner or admin of talkingtrumpet.wordpress.com.
So you must have set up with a second WordPress.com account at some point. You will need to log into the other account in order to access the talkingtrumpet.wordpress.com dashboard.

I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble. However, as was noted by elte. lincolndemocrat.com is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which we really can’t help with.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation and support sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at http://codex.wordpress.org/ and http://wordpress.org/support/
You could also talk to your webhost’s support team. They may be able to help.

Thanks All. I didn’t know that there was a difference between the wordpress.org and com hosting. I think I now know where to get some help.

Thanks, rootjosh. Not sure what you can see on the back end, but I’m positive talkingtrumpet.wordpress.com and thepracticeofpractice.com are on the same account. I’ve been seeing/admin/posting on both sites after logging in with the same account for the last several years. So there is no other usr/pwd I can try. When I sign in to the account that I have admin access to (ThePracticeOfPractice.com), I can then also see the
“manage my sites” dropdown from talkingtrumpet.wordpress.com, which seems to indicate that I’m signed in. When I click through to “manage my sites” it takes me to thepracticeofpractice, without the option for admin on talkingtrumpet.wordpress.comScreenshot here:

talkingtrumpet.wordpress.com and thepracticeofpractice.com are on the same account.
I’m afraid that this is not the case…..well, sort of.
So, I’ve dug into it a bit further. I was correct when I told you that:
A. You have a second account
&
B. The account you are posting from is not the owner of talkingtrumpet.wordpress.com.
Both of those things are true.
However, you are also somewhat correct in recalling that you logged into an account and had control of both talkingtrumpet.wordpress.com and thepracticeofpractice.com.
The fact is that the second account is the one that is the owner of those sites (and a few others). The account you are posting from is not actually an owner of any sites and is only a Admin on thepracticeofpractice.com.
Can you think back to any other email addresses you may have used in the past?

As an admin, you should be able to see this page:
https://thepracticeofpractice.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php

Okay, I’ve figured it out. I did some convoluted access-granting to myself early on before I understood the platform very well, and logged on with that address instead. Thanks for helping me figure out what I did wrong, rootjosh.
cheers,
