Blog and interface languages

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a blog in hebrew which uses several plugins that look really bad (actually, unusable…) in a hebrew backend.

Thus I used to use the language Switcher plugin to have the backend in eglish.
The plugin does not work anymore…

While googling for a solution, I found this:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/language-settings/#interface-language

and I realized that wordpress.co hosted blogs DO have an in-built feature for that, which for me is more than natural to have as a feature on self-hsoted wordpress blogs as well.

Could you please add this feature to the wordpress installation? Please :)

Give me one reason why not make wordpress even cooler –
    No reasons? You see :)

    Awaiting your reply,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

WordPress.com is quite unique in how it handles users languages vs blog languages, so while we try to open source mostly everything we do, this probably won’t happen soon for this specific functionality.

However, there are a bunch of plugins you can use for that, including admin-in-english, by the amazing Nikolay.

Well, it just is really important to me that this happens some day – hopefully pretty soon.

This is an extremely important feature in a full featured a CMS, and since wordpress is so widely used and is far from being a blog platform only (like it was once), I would really love this to happen.

Even if it is going to be integrating a working plugin like admin-in-english into its core.

    Thanks for the answer.

Unfortunately, this is what I get (or something similar) for all the plugins I used to use (including the one that you suggested):
Warning: glob() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/mindking/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-upgrader.php on line 556

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/mindking/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-upgrader.php on line 556
The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.

The plugins is are outdated and nobody seems to support them,,, That’s bad!

  • In this case, you should definitely contact the plugin’s developer.
