Blog appearing twice in list of "my blogs

  • Unknown's avatar

I had previously tried to host my wordpress blog at another site, but was dissatisfied. Instead, I chose to just reroute traffic from my domain (gamerlens.com) to my wordpress (gamerlens.wordpress.com). However, these two address are displayed as two separate blogs on my dashboard. How can I fix this duplication?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello there,
Domain mapping including registering a new domain costs $18. annually. Mapping and existing domain costs $13. annually.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

When you are domain mapping the Admin side of the blog displays the .wordpress.com blog URLs but the visitors see the domain URLs on the public side of the blog. That’s normal.

Yes, but under my blogs I see both “gamerlens.com” and “gamerlens.wordpress.com” separately.

When I click “customize” for gamerlens.com, I receive this error:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, (email visible only to moderators and staff) and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Hi again,
Th data for the My Blogs page is cached and takes some time to update. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

I don’t see any domain mapping for gamerlens.com

You seem to be using a redirect for gamerlens.com at your domain registrar to send traffic to gamerlens.wordpress.com. Redirects like you seem to be using are not all that good and give you search engine issues since they never see the real URL Domain mapping is much more reliable – http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ ( $13.- / year)

Did you use JetPack for your Stats and such for gamerlens.com when it was hosted not here? If so that is why you see gamerlens.com in your dashboard but now can’t reach it

No matter what method you use – domain mapping or redirect and dump – you will always work in the base blog URL – gamerlens.wordpress.com

    @auxclass
I could not find any evidence of domain mapping either.

  • Unknown's avatar

And the name servers are not pointing here

  • Unknown's avatar

I did use jetpack – is there a way to remove it so it does not show up in the my blogs page now?

  • Unknown's avatar

By the way – that is the error I get when trying to reach http://www.gamerlens.com/wp-admin/

  • Unknown's avatar

The staff can remove the old JetPack blog or transfer the stats and subscribers back to your blog here – you will need to tell the staff what option you want

I have flagged this for the staff to help you

  • Unknown's avatar

Well I don’t think I have any stats or subscribers worth saving at this point – I just want to make sure I have access to wp-admin privleges with my domain.

    Hi there,

Since you had Jetpack set up on that blog, it was listed in your account. I removed it for you, so the old Jetpack blog won’t show up there now.

If you’d like to use your domain gamerlens.com with your WordPress.com blog, you can map the domain by following this guide: Map an Existing Domain

Please let me know if I can provide any further help. :)
