Blog Appears When My Name Is Googled

  When I google my own name, on the second page of search results my blog appears. I do not have my name on my user profile so I do not understand why this is happening. Any suggestions on how to make this not happen?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  It almost always happens because someone has linked to you, saying something like “here is my friend Joe Smith’s new blog” and that’s all it takes. Or connecting your blog to your facebook page. Or using an email to set it up which is your real name’s one.

  Surely the search engine doesn’t see the email address you use to set up your wordpress account, does it?

  What connected my blog with my real name was signing up with Technorati. I had no idea at the time that they would blast me all over the internet.

  Did you by chance do that?

  Also, all it takes is a friend putting something on facebook or twitter saying, “hey, check out my friend John Smith’s blog called blogname.”

  Lesson: You cannot use the word anonymity and internet or web in the same sentence. Someone will “out” you at some point. It is only a matter of time.
