Blog associated with ex-work email address, now can't access it at all

I ran a blog loosely associated with my old job, but it was entirely my work and the blog title was not a work one, but I stupidly used a work email address. When I left due to health reasons the person who took over assumed the blog was part of the package and changed the password. When I explained the mistake she told me what it had changed to and I logged in and changed the password and, I thought, the email address. However, when I logged in with these new details it sent me to a very ancient test blog I once set up, rather than the blog I had put so much work into.
I’ve tried every combo of entries to access the blog but haven’t succeeded – has anyone got any suggestions?

Should I just contact this new person and see if they still have access? How could I get the access transferred to me if so?
