  The option to remove the WordPress.com site branding (often included as a footer credit) altogether is available on our WordPress.com Business plan and up. Purchasing a Business plan would allow you to hide the footer credit altogether, as well as empower your site with a TON of powerful performance and security features, and we even cover the cost of your first year of a registered domain when you purchase the annually billed option, so you can really hone in on your site’s overall brand!

  On the free plan or any plan below Business, you’re still able to choose from several options for that site branding, to find one that best fits your overall design. This can be changed under Appearance > Customize > Site Identity, following these steps:
