  Hi There,
  I started a new blog (www.crackledsparklingephemera.wordpress.com). When it loads on the page (if I am logged in to WordPress or not) the page loads as https: (not http:) with a little padlock icon. How can I change this so that it just shows as regular old http: ?

  Yes. Staff is implementing https:// for all .wordpress.com blog URLs. No you cannot change this. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/change-back-to-http-from-https?replies=2#post-2154144
