blog cancelled and then restored
-
Hi folks,
I’m hoping folks can help me here. My blog (http://blog.abclarke.com/), which is hosted at wordpress.com, was taken down for a TOS violation on Friday. I got no notification of why or what I had violated. On Monday morning once support opened (I became aware of the problem after support closed on Friday) I sent an e-mail asking what was going on. Within 30 minutes my blog was working again, but I still had no explanation for what happened. I sent another e-mail once my blog was back, asking what had happened, and again no response.
My concern is that I may have accidentally violated the TOS for WordPress.com and without knowing if and why, then chances are I might misstep again. My blog stats tanked over the weekend and if I get get shut down regularly I’ll have trouble remaining connected with my readers. Any advice from the forums on what I may have done that upset the TOS-enforcers at WordPress. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
– Art

If you search the forum you will find that there are others who feel their blogs that were also suspended were the victims of a bug. Provided you did not have any advertising on your blog and it was not being used to drive traffic to 3rd party sites then your blog will most likely be restored. I suggest that you contact staff directly about this http://wordpress.com/contact-support/

I just heard back from wordpress.com — it appears to have been an error on their end (which in my opinion, well, stuff happens and they provide a useful service so I’ve got to expect that). At least I know I’m not doing something wrong.

If it had been a ToS violation, they wouldn’t have restored it without insisting you make changes, so if you didn’t have to, then it was probably just the bug.

yup, they said it was a problem on their side. I’m not too worried about it (provided it doesn’t consistently happen) — free is free for a reason :)
