Blog classified as Mature
-
What is the exact consequence on WordPress (tags, search, dashboard stats etc.) of having his blog classified as Mature? Thanks
-
They are flagged as Mature so that they become less visible to general audiences throughout WordPress.com by being excluded from Top Blogs, Recent Posts and Global Tag Listings. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/
-
As well, your name in the forum and in blog comments is not linked to your blog, to prevent sensitive minds from viewing the unexpected.
-
OK – i reported myself as ‘mature’. If i had know the consequences i would have not. I first thought WordPress would have add a content warning page to my blog (such as Google Warning for adult blogs hosted on Blogger) or something like this plugin for WordPress: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/content-warning/. I think this is a better strategy than keeping the ‘mature’ blog hidden for the community.

There is no FTP access to wordpress.com blog and we cannot upload plugins, themes or anything else into them.
See here > wordpress.org. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/If you want to have a “mature” content blog and you want to promote it, locate a web host who will host mature content, hire them and get a free software download from wordpress.org.

Warnings do no good. Kids can just click through the warning like anyone else, and popping up a warning to most kids is simply an invitation to click through – curiosity being what it is.

@TSP
Of course, that’s what kids do and anyone who thinks otherwise needs a wake up call. … lol :DAnyway and FWIW this appears to be a dead issue as he has already deleted the blog and has already been given the link to the relevant support entry.
WordPress.com
The authors have deleted this blog. The content is no longer available. -
@ timethief – i know about that (plugins etc.), but adding an option in the wordpress.com blogs to declare the content of our blog as adult matter or possibly offensive to some audiance is a suggestion i do.
@thesacredpath. May be, but still, my blog, as it is on wordpress.com is available to kids.A warning message is better then nothing – no?

My reply is what would be better than wordpress.com just failing to promote and feature mature content blogs is simply to refuse to host them at all.

« My reply is what would be better than wordpress.com just failing to promote and feature mature content blogs is simply to refuse to host them at all. » – – well, this is not a good idea. Clockwork Orange is 18+ rated and still shown on TV with warnings, So mamy mamy good and nice movies ;)

I should have wrote many many .. of course ;)
My suggestion is done to wordpress.com: having a warning message for mature blogs.

I don’t understand what you’re asking for. You say you want “an option in the wordpress.com blogs to declare the content of our blog as adult matter or possibly offensive to some audiance.” This exists: the Report as Mature button.
Warnings are a DRAW, and are ineffective at preventing underage kids from finding and viewing Mature content.
Your blog is still searchable in search engines and has every other feature equal with a Blogger blog or independently-hosted WordPress.org blog. It’s just not able to take advantage of some of the unique promotional aspects of WordPress.com.

@ raincoaster – i mean a system like this one: http://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=86944
As for being excluded from Top Blogs, Recent Posts and Global Tag etc. of WordPress.com (from dashboard), – i do not think it is a so good strategy since it is mostly adults that have a look at those listing anyway.(wordpress is not a usual writing tool for kids).
Thanks.

You have no idea. There are probably over a million kids on WP.com, thanks to Club Penguin. It is VERY VERY popular with kids.

Thank you for the answers.
My point is that kids that want to see ‘pornography’ do not use the wordpress dashboard and their tag system etc., they google it directly (images etc.).
I have declared my blog myself as ‘mature’ – for the words and few pictures it may content. But it is far far far from porno. It is just normal adult stuff, no porno at all. Now i think i should have not declared it since my blog is hardly visible anymore – i know it, it is a fact.
I still think wordpress should have a mature tag for those ‘mature’ blog and have a warning page we could put on, nothing more. Porno blog should be banned.
