Hello there! When I attempted to post to Twitter using the Sharing button below your latest Post, I didn’t have any trouble doing so. Please tell me how you’re attempting to connect to Twitter. If you are receiving an error message, please paste it in your response here. Also, I’d like to know how long this issue has persisted. Have you ever been able to post to Twitter? If you have been able to post in the past, can think of any changes to your site, or your activity on the blog, that may have preceded this problem? Thanks so much. We’ll get to the bottom of this. All the best.

    Hi,

Thanks for checking into this. I can share a link on twitter now too, I couldn’t even post them last week.

However, when I click on links to my blog that I have tweeted twitter gives this warning:

“The site you were trying to visit may be unsafe!
This link has been flagged as potentially harmful.
    Harmful sites can include:
    Web forgeries or phishing sites
Sites that download malicious software onto your computer
Spam sites that request personal information”

Hi there. Could you take a look at your site in a browser other than Safari and let me know if the same thing occurs? Please try Chrome and/or Firefox.

If it happens again, take a screenshot for me, so I can see the issue as you do. The link below has instructions on how to take a screenshot. You can upload the image to your Media Library and let me know when there’s something I should take a look at.

Let me know your results. Thanks so much!

I have uploaded a couple of screen shots to my media library. The issue doesn’t seem to happen with Facebook or when google the site. As well, Google’s Safe Browsing site has not flagged my blog. I have filed numerous tickets with twitter noting that they are called links to my blog spam, but nothing seems to be getting done and it has taken a couple weeks. Other twitter users have told me that they are getting the same spam message when they click on links to my blog from twitter, but not when they just load the page normally from their browser.
Here is the link to the screen shot I uploaded:

Thank you for the image. If you wouldn’t mind, don’t delete it from your Media Library until we have your problem resolved.

Could you please tell me what happened with the browser testing? I had asked you to look at your site in Chrome and Firefox. It’ll help me to troubleshoot your issue if I know what you’re seeing there.

Thanks very much, Reverend Erik! We’ll get this settled asap. Best to you.

    Hi Robyn,

Thanks for your patience and sticking with this issue!

I tried loading the site with Chrome, and tweeting a link with twitter there. Chrome will open the site fine, but the same problem with twitter. The screen shot I took was with the Chrome browser. That message comes up no matter where I open a link on twitter. Safari, Chrome, Firefox all open my blog just fine, as well as post links to. Twitter’s webpage, mobile site, iPhone app all bring up the spam warning (like the one in the screen shot). And often, when I compose a tweet from twitter’s webpage, it won’t let me tweet a link from my blog (I will upload a screen shot of this error message http://millennialpastor.net/?attachment_id=1033)

Interestingly, Tweetbot for iPhone and iPad will open my blog from links in twitter’s timeline. I think the issue is specific to twitter. They must have labeled my blog spam or suspicious. I have tried to get in touch with them, but there is no direct contact (either phone or email) to their support.

    Hey there,
I’ve done further research into the issue as well, and I wish I could help expedite your ticket-request with Twitter.

It looks as if you’ve seen both these pages and followed the instructions there:

    1. https://support.twitter.com/groups/32-something-s-not-working/topics/120-errors/articles/90491-my-website-is-being-flagged-as-malware-or-spam
    2. https://support.twitter.com//entries/109623

It really stinks, but it appears as if you do have to wait on them to release this classification from your URL.

I think in the meantime, it’d be best for you to disable your Twitter sharing button:
    https://millennialpastor.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=sharing
Whenever anyone tries to link your website to their own Twitter feed, I worry they may be “poking the bear.”

If there is anything at all I can do on our end, please let me know. You are flagged as being in good standing here at WordPress.com. Best of luck for a speedy solution to this inconvenience. Please be in touch.

Thanks so much for all your help! I appreciate the good service and speedy responses! Good support is hard to find these days!

My pleasure. I just wish I could do more.

The most important thing is knowing that my blog hasn’t been infected with spam or malware.

I have been reviewing some twitter policies and I think I know what my problem may have been. I wrote a post using the #YesAllWomen hashtag in the title. I use Buffer App to repost blog posts for a few days after they first come out. Twitter probably marked my blog as spam, as they don’t like people making automated tweets in popular hashtags, for advertising purposes. Hopefully if someone there actually checks out my post, they will realize I was trying to contribute to the discussion and no co-opt the hashtag.

Anyways, like I said, the important thing is that you have assured me that my blog isn’t compromised!

    Thanks again!
