BLOG CONTENTS MISSING
-
Another WordPress blog called Behind the Facade – Service Shenanigans at the address http://www.drsallybaker.com still exists on a Google search but all the contents have disappeared and when you search within it, as suggested, nothing appears.
Can anybody explain why this has happened to this blog? -
Hi there,
That site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We don’t have any control at all over that site.
If I had to make an educated guess, I’d say the owner of that site recently emptied content from the site, and search engines haven’t detected that yet. It can take several weeks after content was deleted from a site, or even after a site was deleted completely, before search engines remove that content from their own indexes. So it’s entirely normal for content to still appear in search results weeks, and in some cases even months, after it had been deleted.

Hi Kokkieh,
Thank you for this reply to my forum post. It was very helpful.
I am looking for an official response on this matter from a person in authority who might be able to offer me something more than an “educated guess”. Senior legal staff at WordPress and/or Google presumably know exactly why the contents of this blog have been removed and by whom and can explain exactly why. It feels vitally important to me to be able to establish this information and for this information to be completely accurate and verified.
The writer of that particular blog is saying that the “security services” have removed the contents without her permission. Do such things happen? It may be that WordPress and Google received complaints about some of the contents and were asked to remove it.
What is the position legally with regard to blog posts?
Is WordPress, as the publisher, liable in cases of defamation of character where a person has been named and shamed with accusations made which cannot be proved to be accurate? Is Google, the “search engine”, also liable?
I don’t know who you are and would like to know. Kokkieh really means nothing as I cannot establish in any way your validity or position within an organisation, be it government or private sector.
Many thanks,

Hi there!
To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and they are two different entities.
We, WordPress.com, are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
As @kokkieh mentioned, the site in question is not hosted with WordPress.com and so we have no information or control over it.
The support for WordPress.org sites is provided by unpaid volunteers so I don’t think they’ll be able to help either.
You will want to reach out directly to your hosting company for more information.
