Blog deleted and reactiviation of domain

  Hi,

  1 or 2 months ago I deleted my blog due to personal reasons. Now I wanted to re-register the same domain and to start blogging again. WordPress says ‘it’s already taken’, but when I’m looking for it in my browser there’s the notification ‘the authors (me) have deleted this site’. So can I get the domain back and restart blogging or do I have to register an entirely new domain?

  Sorry but you can’t:

  Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to reuse its WordPress.com address

  So the domain is now rotting somewhere in Nirvana – for eternity? This is… very sad. :(

  Hi @glueckimbauch,

  While you won’t be able to reuse the same WordPress.com subdomain you’re more than welcome to start a new site with a similar address or start fresh with something new.

  Another option is to upgrade to using a custom domain (instead of a .wordpress.com subdomain) which may allow you to use the same or similar address just without the “.wordpress.com” if it’s available. You can find out more about the domain upgrade here:
