Blog deleted, but still showing in Google

Hi, I deleted my blog dolanbay.wordpress.com with all content etc. But when I google it, it still comes up as if it still exists. I don’t want that. What do I have to do to delete completely? Thanks in advance. dolanbay

About your deleted blog – you are stuck – Google (and they are only ONE of many search engines) have you in their cache – the cache’s will clear sometime between 3 and 20 months – you can ask Google to remove the content but since you can’t prove ownership of a deleted blog (you could prove ownership if the blog was still alive and just had deleted content) I am not sure how receptive Google will be to your request but you can ask them and see what happens.

This whole thread is about how you deleted that blog…and it turns out you never deleted it. Did you simply remove yourself as owner or something?

To get it out of search engines, you’ll need to wait several months OR contact each search engine and ask them to delete it.

For having content move off the web – given the number of search engines and archive sites etc. – would a person be better off to keep a blog – go into each Post / Page and delete the content but leave the title and perma-link so when a search engine stops by it gets an empty page as the update – ? Then do a junk Post that is empty or a few words that make no sense to trigger a call to search engines that “new” content has been added.

Wait, you can’t hit pingomatic with no feed. I think you should be okay making everything private or deleting it but leaving up one page saying “Bye” and THEN hitting pingomatic. But Yahoo never seems to get rid of ANYTHING, ever.

Hi, I cannot make anything private, because I cannot access my blog anymore. When I log in, it only shows “Create Blog”, but not “Manage Blogs”. Does that mean the Blog is gone? I don’t understand why I can still click on everything in the blog and people can even comment and such. Shouldn’t that functions be off somehow?

You need to log in as the user who owns the blog in order to delete it.
