Blog Display
-
For some reason, my blog page isn’t displaying correctly with the Collective Theme.
The title “blog.” isn’t showing up at all in the top banner — it remains blank.
Also, if I try to add the blog page as one of the sections on the homepage, it displays blank. How do I fix both of these?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
The title “blog.” isn’t showing up at all in the top banner — it remains blank.
I do see the title in your banner — perhaps I’m not understanding exactly what is missing. Please let me know if you’ve fixed your own issue, or exactly what you DO want to appear in the header.
Also, if I try to add the blog page as one of the sections on the homepage, it displays blank. How do I fix both of these?
It appears as if the only missing item on your homepage, in comparison to the Collective Demo’s blog page, is your custom header image. You can add that here:
https://falseprofitscomedy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=custom-headerIf you have any other questions at all, or want to clarify exactly what you’re hoping to accomplish, I can definitely help more. Please let me know.
Also, in case you do not have the Collective Support Document, it may be a great help to you:

Maybe we’re not seeing the same thing. Look at how “About.” appears in the box where the featured image is on it’s page. But the blog. page doesn’t display it’s featured image nor the word “blog” in that featured image banner.

We were indeed looking at two different areas of your site. Thanks for the clarification.
Your theme’s demo also doesn’t display the Blog title:
http://collectivedemo.wordpress.com/blog/The option to add a title to the blog page is not offered as part of the design of the theme, even with CSS.
I have a work-around suggestion, if it suits you. Because you still have an empty space for a Featured Image on your blog page, you may consider adding the word “blog” as a title directly on the image itself. Your visitors need be none the wiser.
Or, if the issue is gnawing at you, you may leave a note directly on the Collective forum, for the theme’s developers to read:

Thanks so much!

The featured image is not displaying at all. I have one uploaded and set to be the featured image on that page, but the published version still remains gray. Know how to fix this?

Hi there!
I am not seeing a Featured Image chosen for your blog page. Could you please send me a link to the media file that you were hoping to use, and I can troubleshoot the issue further?
Thanks much!

This is the pic we currently have set as our Featured Image on our “blog.” page, yet nothing shows up.

Are we supposed to set the featured image for the blog elsewhere? Or how do we fix this?

Because I’d like to know the quick fix so that if we want to change it, it can easily be done.
Thanks!

Hey there!
The problem was the size of your image. I cropped it and changed the resolution so it would publish online. The cropping may look a bit funky since I needed to work with the original image’s dimensions. I could either keep the page title…or the subjects’ heads. I decided on decapitation to retain the title you were hoping to display. You can, of course, change this.
The image for that page’s header needs to be installed either at Appearance → Header OR Appearance → Customize → Header. Your theme recommends these dimensions: 2000 × 640 pixels.
Additionally, you will want your images to be optimized in order to appear online. Here are instructions:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/I hope this helps! Take care.
