blog does not display

    Hi

    I’m admin for the blog a non-technical friend has (www.surreyballroomandpilates.com). Originally they had a web site hosted by Fast Hosts, but I moved the content to WordPress.com and set up a (frame based) redirect to the WordPress site (surreyballroomandpilates.wordpress.com). The site has been dormant for a while but when I checked to get it going again it did not display. The page “loads” but is just blank. The only body content is

    <body>
    <div id=”partner”></div>
    <script type=”text/javascript”>
    document.write(
    ‘<script type=”text/javascript” language=”JavaScript”‘
    + ‘src=”//sedoparking.com/frmpark/’
    + window.location.host + ‘/’
    + ‘livedns’
    + ‘/park.js”>’
    + ‘</script>’
    );
    </script>
    </body>

    Checking the config revealed that WordPress now manages the www domain, although I don’t recall making that change (it’s quite possible I did, I just have no record of it). The Fast Hosts redirect was still in place so I figured that was the issue – but removing that has no effect.

    I can log on to the admin pages for the site so I know that it is still there.

    Anything else I can try?

    Thanks!

    Hello @vaelorn

    That’s odd. There is a mapping to that domain which expires tomorrow, but that’s secondary to what’s happening. It would appear that the Nameservers on the Domain were changed, and the domain is now “parked” which is why it is displaying what it is.

    I changed the Primary domain to be surreyballroomandpilates.wordpress.com so that the site can be displayed at that address.

    To get things back to how it was intended, you’ll need to do this:

    1) Renew the domain mapping.
    wordpress.com/my-upgrades

    2) Update the Nameservers at the Registrar to point to WordPress –
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/#update-the-dns-yourself

    3) Make surreyballroomandpilates.com the Primary Domain for the site.
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#setting-the-primary-domain

    Once those steps are complete, things should be working again!

    Hi

    Thanks for getting back to me. The problem is really on step (1). Although “surreyballroomandpilates.com” is listed as a mapped domain I’m still on the free plan – and as far as I can remember I’ve never upgraded. So I can’t see how to renew the mapping… and it’s puzzling me how this was mapped in the first place!

    There doesn’t seem to be an option on the “DNS Records” page to remove the mapping (which might allow me to switch back to having the redirect done by the Registrar). The other information on that page (mail domains etc) seems to be have picked up from the Registrar and is all OK.

    Yours in confusion!

    Vaelorn

    Hello again –

    After looking into this a little more – the owner of the blog actually purchased the upgrade! She and you are both listed as administrators on the site, she purchased the domain mapping a year ago, and hasn’t renewed yet. If you’re in touch with her, maybe you could let her know?
