.blog domain

If I purchase a .blog domain which has the same name as my wordpress.com one, do I also need to pay to have the site/blog/posts transferred across to the new .blog location? (Does that makes sense?)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

My understanding is that you are changing your domain, not your website content. That is, your website is identical except that its moved locations.

Hope that makes sense! Feel free to take a look at the domain documentation if you need anything clarified.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you for replying. I’m new to this and still can’t quite make sense of it. Basically, I would like my whatmatters2016.wordpress.com blog to become whatmatters2016.blog i.e. all the existing content automatically appears under that new domain of .blog if someone types that in – but do I achieve that just by paying the £18/month or do I need to do more (upgrade the plan, or redirect something, or….?)
and I’m still not sure I’m making sense with my query!?
