  At one time I had a domain named, overachievinggrey
  I wish to switch back to this name from my current one however, it is not currently working for me. I was wondering how I could get in back.

  Aloha overachievinggrey,

  Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to re-use its WordPress.com address (such as yourgroovysite.wordpress.com).

  Delete a Website

  There is no way to recover a deleted WordPress.com site. Sometimes sites may be recycled, but this is after they have been deleted for two years.
