Blog domain I want was used but blog was deleted. Can't use domain, though.

  The blog at the domain transitionpgh.wordpress.com has been deleted and is apparently unused, and I can’t use the domain name myself. Is there anything I can do about this, or will I have to stick with transitionpittsburgh.wordpress.com?

  You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

  Thanks for the prompt replies. That’s too bad…

  Is there any way to figure out who owned the blog? Chances are they were the previous person in my official position, but it could be a range of people.

  Deleted blog names are gone forever so it really does not matter who the original owner was unless you want to find them and yell at them for deleting the blog name

  There is no way you can get a deleted blog URL. What I posted above was correct and complete.

  A short time ago i deleted a blog with the domain name utopiconil.wordpress.com. I changed the name of another blog to utopiconil and cant get rid of the existing domain name 82pisosconil.wordpress.com.

  Yes you can purchase a domain mapping upgrade and map from your wordpress.com blog to a domain like utopiconil.com, provided it is available for purchase. It will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is that you map from to the domain URL.
