Hi! How do you decide when a domain becomes available again after the authors have deleted the site? I would love to be the owner of either bluestocking.wordpress.com or thebluestocking.wordpress.com, but they are not available, despite the original owners not using them any more. As I am hoping to start a very active blog and possibly a business based on the name, I am eager to know what my options are. Thank you in advance!

The authors have deleted this site.
Deleted sites can only be recovered within 30 days of deletion by the original owner. After that point they are gone forever.
I assume the other site belongs to someone other than you. You could always leave a message on the site asking if the owner would transfer the site to your account. Otherwise I’m afraid you’ll have to choose a different address. -
Thanks for your quick reply @themagicrobot! I can’t seem to find a way of contacting the owners on the deleted site unfortunately. Would it maybe be best to wait a couple of days? Or is there a very obvious way of messaging them that I have missed?

You can’t reach the deleted site even if you waited till the end of time. That has gone. But you could leave a comment on one of the posts of the other site bluestocking.wordpress.com and just hope they still use the same email address that was associated with the site after all this time to actually see your comment. They don’t appear to have updated the site for many years.
