Blog Entries Disappear
-
I have been having a few problems with my blog, I have created posts that have disappeared, shortly after being published, then at times they have not appeared when I search under the relevant category following publishing. I have also noticed that the theme for the page (despite being amended) reverts back to the original theme i selected. The stats bar at the top of the screen displays zero views constantly. I think there may be a range of issues and sadly i don’t have the skills and knowledge to address or identify them so I am writing for some support.
Many thanks in advance
Gareth

Hello there,
It sounds like your blog may be caught up in the duplicate blogs issue so I’ll tag this thread for Staff. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting. -

Hi Gareth!
I did see the problem and went ahead and deleted the duplicate blog. Things should work properly now. Feel free to let me know if I can be of further help.
Thanks!

Thanks Andrew,
Posted a blog with no issues last night, but have just tried again and the post does not appear in any of the categories again, could you look into this please?
Thanks

Hey Gareth!
Is this your newest post — Swimathon (5k) First Ever Endurance Event? I browsed your categories earlier and did see the blog post appear both in the front end and admin panel.
Here are sample links and screenshots:

Admin panel:

Can you let me know if you’re having problems with a specific category? Or is the post not appearing in all of them?
As a further step, try clearing your browser cache and see if that helps:
Looking forward to your reply! Cheers.

Thanks for the quick reply, yes that’s the most recent post – when I go to my reader and have a look at Triathlon in the categories (which is the main one I look at as it’s the central theme of my posts) it didn’t appear in the stream of other posts within the timeline. I also had a comment from myself as soon as it was published which was a paragraph of the posts content so not sure what’s happened there really.
The latter (or both) maybe something I have done within the settings but I combed through them and couldn’t see anything to remedy the issues to would be grateful for your help on these.
Many thanks in advance

Hello again!
Thanks for clearing that up. There may be a number of reasons why your post does not currently appear in the Reader tags, and I’m guessing it’s because of the duplicate blog issue you experienced earlier.
I’d advise you to give your blog a few more days to kick in, and read through our support page to give you a better explanation of what might be causing the problem:

In the meantime, I subscribed to your blog as well, and will continue monitoring this through my Reader.
Thank you for your patience!

Hello,
I seem to be having the same problem, I have just posted a blog entitled Trial Run and it doesn’t appear in the category listings e.g triathlon.
I also have ping back comments which appear to be from my own blog I don’t know if there is a link between these but commonly I think that when the ping back comments appear the posts don’t seem to in the chosen categories.
Could you please help?
Thanks
Gareth

Hey Gareth,
Sorry about that! Yes, things like these do take time as suggested in the support page. My suggestion is just to keep writing and doing what you love. Once you hit a good number of posts, your posts should start appearing in the categories.
Regarding pingbacks, I’m pretty sure they’re not causing your posts to disappear from the categories. Pingbacks are a way to notify you when someone links to you from another blog, or even from your own blog. If you prefer not to receive pingbacks from yourself, here’s how to do it:
Let me know if you have more questions or concerns. Cheers!

Hi there! Just thought I’d drop in after reviewing some of your posts in my Reader. I’m noticing a lot of tags and categories in your blog posts and that may be why they’re not showing up in the tag pages. As stated in the support page:
You are using too many categories or tags. In most cases, there’s no need to assign more than a handful of tags per post. If you use more than 15 tags and categories (total), your posts will not appear on tag pages (because you don’t want to see irrelevant content showing up there, and neither do we).
http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts
Try keeping them to a maximum of 10 in total in your newer posts and see if it improves things. I’ll keep an eye on them in my Reader as well.
Thank you and good luck!
