Blog format: "Tease" and button to a PDF in Media library
-
Greetings,
Being a wordpress.com newbie, I’m seeking hints on creating the blog format which I’d prefer.
With each blog, I’d like to provide a “teaser” of <280 characters of text and a button to view a PDF stored in my Media library in another window/Page(?). (This would reduce the scrolling necessary for readers past more recent (long) blogs to read earlier ones.)
Respectfully,
JimThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Jim, I don’t have tips on buttons leading to PDFs. Also, PDFs aren’t always the best bet since they can be hard to read on small screens.
But, we do have an excerpt option or “read more” feature that will let folks see at teaser. Then they would click through to the rest of the post. And if you want to you, you could include a PDF link on each post’s “main” page, too.
You might like a theme like https://wordpress.com/theme/canard or https://wordpress.com/theme/canard for your site. Both have options to show teaser text, too.

I found the instructions to provide a link to a external file, be it a PDF, DOCX, whatever.
