Blog function on my website

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a website that I want to run a semi regular blog on. My blog section of the website is here: https://djalkemy.co.uk/news

So, what I want, is a way to put a blog entry in and not have the whole of the blog entry showing in full. I don’t want people to have to scroll down the page for an age to get to different blog entries. I’m wondering if there’s some sort of plugin that I can install so that page could have say, a picture and a short introduction to that blog entry with a “read more” clickable link that will open up that blog entry in full. Is that even possible? I hope this make sense but as I see it at the moment, if I put a blog entry on that page, it will show the whole entry in full and once I get to the point of like 5-10 blog entries, the person using the page will have to scroll quite a bit to get to older blog entries and I think it will look terrible.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Hi there! Nicely put.

It can be done. Sometimes this feature is built into the theme. It looks like you are using the Astra theme.

I need to mention a few key things.

    1. The site you have there is a WordPress site using the open source software created and provided by WordPress.org. But, your site isn’t hosted with us at WordPress.com and that prevents us from being able to directly support your site questions. What we can do is use our experience to guide you toward where you can find the help you need.

(Curious about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.com?)

    2. It never hurts to check with your theme creators first to see if they offer a solution for this within the theme. I was able to find Astra’s support here: https://wpastra.com/support/

    3. WordPress itself has a few built-in features which give you the ability to shorten posts as they appear on pages and lists. The most popular…

A tool built straight into the toolbox of your WordPress post creation/edit area.

    4. Moving forward, your best avenue for most support questions will be within the community support forums over at WordPress.org. Here’s a link to help you find your way there: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    We hope this helps!
