Blog funktion
-
Hello,
I have built a brand new website. It is not yet published online. The domain is registered. The website in question must have a blog function that the website http://www.detgodasamhallet.se has. From what I understand, WordPress provides guides for this feature. Is it correctly understood by me? How much does it cost to have my/this website at Word-press.com? How do I proceed to become a customer of Word-press.com in such a case?Correct account: Yes
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
To be sure I understand, detgodasamhallet.se is not your site, but instead a site you would like to emulate? Since you mention you don’t need help with nyttpublicservice.wordpress.com this will be a new site you plan to add to your account?
I see that the site detgodasamhallet.com (which detgodasamhallet.se redirect to) is a site on WordPress.com and using our Business Plan, but it is using a theme that is retired and we no longer offer as pre-installed. https://wordpress.com/theme/hive/
The good news is that with the Business Plan you can install any theme “designed for WordPress” and the original theme is available directly from the author here.
From what I understand, WordPress provides guides for this feature. Is it correctly understood by me?
We don’t have a specific text-based guide for setting up a similar site if that is what you mean. However, we do provide in-house support and our team can help guide you along the way. The theme you download from the author will also typically come with setup instructions.
How much does it cost to have my/this website at Word-press.com? How do I proceed to become a customer of Word-press.com in such a case?
As I mention, if you wish to have that specific theme design, you will need our Business Plan. A good place to get started is by setting up the initial site you will need here: https://wordpress.com/start/
You have the option to add our upgrades during the onscreen setup, and there are monthly and annual options for the Business Plan. Also worth noting, the Business Plan includes live chat support, so you would have a very fast avenue to support for any questions you might have.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi and thank you for your reply.
1. I really want to delete nyttpublicservice.wordpress.com but I don’t know how to go about it.2. For the purpose of acquiring (buying) “the original theme is available directly from the author here.” as you suggest, which is referred to as “High Five” (three different options), then I must first have obtained (purchased) a “Business plan”. Is it correctly understood by me? And how much does a “Business plan” cost? Is there a starter plan that has the blogging feature I’m calling for that I can also choose, instead of the presumably more expensive “Business plan”?
3. I have already built the website in question. But what is missing from my website is the blog function itself, which is available at http://www.detgodasamhallet.se. It is that one I want to implement on my website. Can I import my already completed website from http://www.one.com to WordPress? Or do I have to rebuild the website from scratch in WordPress?
-
Hello again,
My web provider “one.com” offers me to buy tools for WordPress, which the “one.com” program does not provide. I assume that with such an add-on purchase, I will be provided with WordPress tools to implement the blog functionality I am calling for.I now see in the WordPress Instructions on WordPress.com regarding domain transfer that it can take anywhere from five to seven days to complete. Newly registered domains cannot be transferred until they are at least 60 days old. That means to me, it will take at least 60 days for me to get the website up and running. It’s too long time for me.
One.com tells me I can install the WordPress plugin here: “https://help.one.com/hc/sv/articles/360000314205-How-to-install-WordPress-manually-” . My question to you: Is the addon I’m looking for (the blog feature) included there?

Hi,
I really want to delete nyttpublicservice.wordpress.com but I don’t know how to go about it.
You can delete that site by following these instructions:
https://wordpress.com/en/support/delete-site/
For the purpose of acquiring (buying) “the original theme is available directly from the author here.” as you suggest, which is referred to as “High Five” (three different options), then I must first have obtained (purchased) a “Business plan”. Is it correctly understood by me?
Yes, that’s correct. To install that specific theme or any other theme that’s not in our Theme Library, you’ll have to upgrade to the Business plan.
And how much does a “Business plan” cost?
You can find the prices of all our plans here:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Is there a starter plan that has the blogging feature I’m calling for that I can also choose, instead of the presumably more expensive “Business plan”?
Yes, we have the Personal and Premium plans, but with those you won’t be able to install plugins and third-party themes.
Is your current website using the WordPress software? If it isn’t, it’ll have to be imported and converted to WordPress in order to be hosted with us.
If you have a public URL of your website let me know and I can have a look.My web provider “one.com” offers me to buy tools for WordPress, which the “one.com” program does not provide. I assume that with such an add-on purchase, I will be provided with WordPress tools to implement the blog functionality I am calling for.
Yes, it looks like that you can install the WordPress software on your current hosting plan and use it to build your blog. If you decide to go with that, then you won’t need our services. We (WordPress.com) are a different host than One.com. The difference is that we take care of all the updates and maintenance for WordPress, while on your host, you’ll have to perform those tasks.
That means to me, it will take at least 60 days for me to get the website up and running. It’s too long time for me.
You can still use the domain with WordPress.com without transferring it. You can point it to us and when the 60-day lock is lifted you can transfer it.
One.com tells me I can install the WordPress plugin here: “https://help.one.com/hc/sv/articles/360000314205-How-to-install-WordPress-manually-” . My question to you: Is the addon I’m looking for (the blog feature) included there?
Yes, the blogging feature is one of the core features of WordPress and it’s built-in.

Hello again
I have now chosen one.com with the option of WordPress.
On the website (WordPress):
https://www.svtblogg.se/blog/
and on the page:
https://www.svtblogg.se/wp-admin/post.php?post=63&action=edit
there it says
QUOTE
“As a new WordPress user, you should go to your dashboard to delete this page and create new pages for your content. Have fun!”
END QUOTE
My question:
Where can I find “Your Dashboard”?

Hello again. As I said, I have signed a one-year contract with one.com with the add-on WordPress tool. I don’t know what this WordPress add-on is called in WordPress websiteworld.
I now wish to use the WordPress tool to build a website that looks largely the same as http://www.detgodasamhallet.se
In the WordPress tool I now have at hand, which “theme” is most suitable for me to choose as I want the website to look just like http://www.detgodasamhallet.se?
In the” themes” that you show in the presentation of WordPress (which are therefore not selectable in the presentation) you show something that you call “High Five”. This “High Five” would for me be almost perfect for me to start building my website on. But where do I find this “theme”? What is the “theme” in question, in that case?
-
Clarification; By “blog function” I mean that the visitor to the website should be able to comment on the text in the blog in question.
-
Hello there,
Where can I find “Your Dashboard”?
This can be found via https://www.svtblogg.se/wp-admin/. I can see this redirects to one.com, so you may need to check how their configuration works with WordPress.
This “High Five” would for me be almost perfect for me to start building my website on. But where do I find this “theme”?
Are you seeing this option in One.com? This may be an exclusive theme with them as ordinarily this would be present in the theme repo here: https://en-gb.wordpress.org/themes/search/high%20five
As the site is hosted with One.com and not WordPress.com, you may wish to reach out to https://help.one.com/hc/en-us as our support is limited.

Hello again,
I have my completed website at “one.com”. The website in question is not yet published on the Internet. I have purchased the extension “WordPress” from “one.com”. The reason why I chose the add-on “WordPress” is that I want the use of the “blog function” that “WordPress” provides, meaning that the visitor to the website in question can comment on the editorial in question. As, for example, happens at http://www.detgodasamhallet.seQuestions:
1. Can I import my existing website on “one.com” to “WordPress” in order to add the “blog function” that I want to have on my website that way? If this is possible, then I would like an instruction on how to do this.2. If I choose one of the different “themes” that “WordPress” provides, can I change the font, color and size of all the default fonts on my selected “WordPress” theme?
3. If I choose one of the different “themes” that “WordPress” provides, can I resize, remove and add columns on my chosen “WordPress” theme?
4. Through “WordPress”, can I appoint someone who, based on my instructions and my largely already completed website located at “one.com”, will complete a website for me, the way I want it to look? In such a case, I would like to get in touch with such a person or company. Can you help me with that?

Hello there,
1. Can I import my existing website on “one.com” to “WordPress” in order to add the “blog function” that I want to have on my website that way?
Yes, please see this guide on how to do this here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/
2. If I choose one of the different “themes” that “WordPress” provides, can I change the font, color and size of all the default fonts on my selected “WordPress” theme?
It depends on the theme, is there a theme in mind you’re looking to use in particular?
3. If I choose one of the different “themes” that “WordPress” provides, can I resize, remove and add columns on my chosen “WordPress” theme?
It’s possible – but this is depending on which theme is in use.
4. Through “WordPress”, can I appoint someone who, based on my instructions and my largely already completed website located at “one.com”, will complete a website for me, the way I want it to look? In such a case, I would like to get in touch with such a person or company. Can you help me with that?
We do have a Do It For Me Service which may be of use: https://wordpress.com/built-by-wordpress-com/
I hope this helps.

Hello again and thanks for your reply. To be on the safe side here, I repeat myself below;
I myself have built a website with my web provider “one.com”. At “one.com” I have bought a “WordPress” add-on meaning that in this way I can enjoy a “blog function” where visitors can comment on my column, as happens at http://www.detgodasamhallet.se. One.com does not provide this blogging feature with commenting capability.
I now intend to import my website from one.com to WordPress to my wordpress account.
At https://wordpress.com/support/import/ there are prepared instructions showing how to proceed. On this page, a wide range of different web companies are listed, but not one.com. Which guide should I use?

If you have WordPress installed at one.com, you should be able to enable comments for your site by following the instructions here:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/comments-in-wordpress/#enabling-comments-on-your-site
However, if you are still preferring to import your site to WordPress.com, there is a straightforward way to migrate your content over no matter the company:
Depending on whether you choose a Plan with us that has plugin capability, you can migrate everything over from one.com.
Please take a look and let us know if you have enay questions.

Hello again and thanks for the information I received from you.
With the help of the support at one.com, where my website http://www.svtblogg.se is located, I have installed the WordPress tool. The installation in question has been carried out without any problems. What I am now asking for instructions on is:
1. What is the name of the “plug in” tool at WordPress, which I will install.
2. Where can I find this tool.(On the page https://kommentar.svtblogg.se/wp-admin/plugin-install.php there are several tools that I am offered to install/use).
The tool from WordPress that I am looking for, and wish to install, is the comment function that http://www.detgodasamhallet.se provides on its website.
So again:
1b. What is the name of the tool or “plug-in” with/at WordPress that I should install?
2b. Where can I find this tool?Best regards

Hi there,
Comments are available natively within WordPress. You do not need a plugin to add them to your site.
https://wordpress.org/support/article/comments-in-wordpress/#enabling-comments-on-your-site
However, you may have seen Jetpack comments and that requires the Jetpack Plugin:
Jetpack is the plugin that connects your self-hosted site to the WordPress.com account that you are using to contact us here. It also provides WordPress.com features.
Hope this helps.

Hi again, thanks for your provided instruction.
I have now once again spoken to one.com support, who are now telling me that the comment function that I am calling for (which happens on http://www.detgodasamhallet.se) is not possible to achieve with my website http://www.svtblogg.se.
One.com support now tells me that the comment function that I will now receive (with the help of the WordPress tool) which WordPress provides, means that if the visitor to my website wishes to read existing comments and/or also wishes to enter a comment, then the visitor will be sent to a completely new website (which WordPress provides). This means that my website – at this stage, is not visible. If this description is correct, then I understand that I have to rebuild my entire website with “WordPress”. – Is this correctly understood by me?
Can WordPress handle “se” domain? (www.svtblogg.se).
Regarding the nice instruction you last gave me at https://wordpress.org/support/article/comments-in-wordpress/#enabling-comments-on-your-site. I haven’t tried it yet because I’m not sure which button I should use to start the installation process with, when I have the “WordPress” tools available in my web browser. Which of the buttons should I START with? After all, it would be useful for me to see how the result would be if I use the now available “simple” alternative. This is before I start messing around with changing web providers.
Best regards

Hi there,
If this description is correct, then I understand that I have to rebuild my entire website with “WordPress”. – Is this correctly understood by me?
Yes, that is correct. I checked http://www.svtblogg.se and the reason is that it doesn’t appear your site isn’t currently a WordPress site. In order to use the WordPress comment feature or any other WordPress plugin, you will need to migrate your site over to WordPress first.
Can WordPress handle “se” domain? (www.svtblogg.se).
The .se domain TLD isn’t available to register from WordPress.com. But, you can keep the domain at your current host and connect it here by changing the nameservers:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
One of our paid plans is needed to connect the domain:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
We can help you replace the domain mapping on your site and remove fannypalsson.com if you want.
You can still register any other domain with TLDs listed on this page.
I haven’t tried it yet because I’m not sure which button I should use to start the installation process with, when I have the “WordPress” tools available in my web browser.
To clarify, I know you already have a WordPress installation but now you’re trying to migrate your site content to WordPress? If so, what we need to first figure out is how to get your current site over to WordPress since it is not a WordPress site. One option is to rebuild it from scratch, but if you are able to save your content into a XML file, you can move it over to WordPress.com:
https://wordpress.com/support/import/#non-word-press-site
I would reach out to one.com and see if it is possible to save your site as an XML file. The other thing to determine is if you’re wanting to keep your site at one.com or move it over to us here at WordPress.com. If the former, no need to worry about pointing the domain over to us, you will just need to work with one.com to connect the domain to the new WordPress installation since I take it the domain is also hosted with one.com.
Otherwise, if you are wanting to move to WordPress.com, you will just need to ask one.com to help generate an XML file for your site content if possible and then we can assist you with the next steps in migrating the site to WordPress.com.
Thanks,
-
Hi and thanks again for your provided information.
Tomorrow morning at 9:00 am, I plan to call One.com support to get an answer to whether they can help me to save my website http://www.svtblogg.se in an XML file or not.
If it is possible, I intend to save my website to an XML file and then transfer my entire website http://www.svtblogg.se to WordPress, this because I can then obtain the comment’s function with the comment’s layout as www .detgodasamhallet.se has.
The domain http://www.svtblogg.se “is hosted” by One.com today. Since I want to keep the domain name http://www.svtblogg.se, One.com must continue to be the “host” of http://www.svtblogg.se. After my transition to WordPress, WordPress must take care so that the required pointing (of the ”se” domain) takes place flawlessly, which I assume WordPress are able to take care of. If this particular pointing-service constitutes an additional cost in my transition to WordPress, then I want to know what it costs. And when the work can conceivably be completed.
If it turns out that I cannot save http://www.svtblogg.se into XML-file, then I am faced with a choice, either:
1. Ask someone at WordPress to organize so that http://www.svtblogg.se in its current version is built in WordPress. If you know anyone who can take on that task, I would like to know what this will cost me. Suggestions here are welcomed.
2. If I myself take on the task of building http://www.svtblogg.se from “scratch” at WordPress as it looks today with WordPress, how much will it cost me? I do not want any extra services with additions here and there, but it is only about what I have explained here.
3. Is it possible, to build an exact copy of today’s http://www.svtblogg.se at WordPress? The reason I’m asking is because WordPress is drowning in millions of themes which I do not want to use (except for the comment-thing we have been talking about).
Best regards

Hi there,
I checked http://www.svtblogg.se/ and there is so little content on the site from what I saw, I wouldn’t pay for anyone to migrate it to WordPress if you cannot generate an XML file. I am only seeing five pages and no blog content, so copy and pasting the content you currently have would take 30 minutes (unless there are other pages that I am not seeing from the front end).
Starting a site with WordPress.com is free, so actually migrating the content and making sure it looks good to you would be free. Once things look good and you want your domain connected to the site, then you could purchase a plan.
3. Is it possible, to build an exact copy of today’s http://www.svtblogg.se at WordPress?
I would say that you can have a site that looks very similar to the current one you have. You need a theme for your site on WordPress, but Blank Canvas is a great option – that way, you can add the content you want from a blank white page. If all you want is the site you currently have plus the comment section, I believe that is possible for sure. The good thing about our purchase plans is that we provide live chat support. Once you get things migrated, you can reach out to us and one of our staff members would be happy to assist you with helping you with any setup questions you have.
