Perfect. Now I think I know how everything actually works. After I have had a conversation with one.com tomorrow, I intend to contact you again on WordPress because there I intend to either rebuild the site http://www.svtblogg.se or, rebuild the same site on WordPress.

    Hello again.
I have now downloaded an XML file from one.com to my own computer. The size of the XML file is a bit alarmingly small, I guess, – it is only 45KB (?) which is why I am a bit suspicious if it contains all the required information, which I do not have the knowledge to judge.

Anyway, please guide me how to go about importing this XML file into WordPress. This so that I can build my website http://www.svtblogg.se in the WordPress program.

You can follow the steps here to import that file:

    https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-a-sites-content/

The XML file (also referred to as WXR file) contains your posts, pages, comments, categories, tags, and links to images.

An XML export can move your images and other media. However, it’s important to know that XML export files don’t contain any actual images or media files. They contain links to images and other media, which will transfer to the new site after you import the XML file to that site. This is likely why the file appears to be “small”.

For this reason, the site you exported from must remain publicly accessible during the import process. This process can take a few hours depending on how many media files you have.

If you intend to delete your content (or the entire site), it’s important to wait until after media files have been successfully imported into the new site.

    I hope that clarifies things!

Hello again and thank you för your reply.

Yes, I have followed the steps as follows:
    https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-a-sites-content/
and imported the file to WordPress (I think).

The website http://www.svtblogg.se is still on the One.com server and the page is still available on the Internet. This will remain until I at WordPress have finished building my website, and only then will I place http://www.svtblogg.se with WordPress, which in connection with the placement points to the One.com server, which means that http://www.svtblogg.se is displayed on the Internet. (This is necessary because WordPress does not handle “se” domains).

You are telling me that the XML-file in question does not contain images. There are no problems for me because I made a backup copy of the entire http://www.svtblogg.se which I saved on my computer at home. The fact that it does not contain any images may also explain – as you say, why it is apparently so small in size (45 kb).

That’s correct. Changing your domain nameservers is a separate process from importing your content to a site.

Note that you will need a paid plan when you want to connect your domain to the site and make it your primary domain. You can compare the different plan levels here:

I give up. Every now and then I get a long series of irrelevant questions, error messages and other things, at WordPress. I have now decided to build the website in question from scratch on WordPress instead. As logged in to WordPress, I started by selecting the “Premium” package on WordPress. After that, I get a lot of questions about, and how I want to handle my existing domain, – questions that are NOT relevant to my situation. I want to FIRST build up my svtblogg.se on WordPress and THEN take care of pointing to one.com, which handles “SE” domains.

You guys have been helpful, but this absolute mess is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Would be grateful if any of you guys could call me up and guide me in the starting process here. My time is running out. I have to complete the website in question by August 31 at the latest.

I am looking for a person who, with the help of my in such case acquired “premium subscription” with WordPress, can build my website http://www.svtblogg.se on WordPress, to look like as it does today on one.com, however with the comment function that is on http://www.detgodasamhallet.se . Then I would like that this person contact me at (email visible only to moderators and staff).

After the website has been completed, I intend to completely take over the administration of the website / http://www.svtblogg.se myself.

Can you help me to get in contact with such a person?

    Regards
    Thomas

  • Howdy,

WordPress.com support staff does not have standing connections with freelance WordPress professionals. So connecting you with someone who could do that work is a bit beyond the scope of the support we can provide.

However, I can say that many people have had success with freelancers hired from Upwork:

    Hello again,
A good friend of mine has now helped me create a copy of my website http://www.svtblogg.se which was built and is located at one.com.

The copy in question, which my friend has built/set up, is built on a WordPress free account. https://wordpress.com/page/svtblog336399501.wordpress.com/2

The plan now is that I myself, will try to learn the WordPress website program and then take over future administration and changes to the website all by myself.

My good friend tells me, just as I previously thought, that if I want the website in question the way I want it to look, then I have to sign a premium subscription that runs for a minimum of one year first.

I have looked and tried to make some changes on the website at the WordPress website program. I’m still a little unsure whether with a WordPress premium subscription I can manage to learn how to manage the WordPress program in question. I would like to try first and see if I think I can learn the WordPress program first, before signing up for a WordPress premium subscription.

    My question
If I sign up for a WordPress premium subscription, is it possible for me to get a trial period of let’s say 2-3 days first? It is only then that I will be able to determine / can see if I think I can finish building the website that I want to build, on WordPress.

  • Hello there,

If I sign up for a WordPress premium subscription, is it possible for me to get a trial period of let’s say 2-3 days first? It is only then that I will be able to determine / can see if I think I can finish building the website that I want to build, on WordPress.

We don’t have a trial available – however, we do have a 14 day refund window available, whereby you could use that time to see if you like it and proceed with the plan or not.

    I hope this helps.
