blog hacked and deleted
-
Hi,
The French forum sent me here. I need some help as my wordpress blog has been hacked and deleted by another person (https://purpledreamlifestyle.wordpress.com/).
The hacker has broken into my gmail account and probably used it to gain access to my wordpress account by using the lost password feature.
-The hacker is connecting from another country (Germany).
-I am the only administrator on the blog, no one has access to it.
-I have checked the trash-bin of the blog and it is indeed empty.Would you happen to have a way to restore the blog from a prior back-up? I have unfortunately not made any manual backup.
Thanks for your time and help.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no way to restore the site content except to copy and paste the cached content you find in Google into new posts like this http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:xcLzEs0QLDMJ:https://purpledreamlifestyle.wordpress.com/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
I’m surprised the Volunteers on the French forums sent you here to ask for that.

There are some steps you may want to take to prevent this from happening again.
If anyone is posting anything to your blog or removing anything from it, or changing anything in it, or if your blog has been deleted and you did not delete it, then it’s most likely that you have provided them with the ability to do so, either deliberately by adding them as official users, or by allowing them access to your login information, or by posting content that makes it easy for them to guess what your log-in information is.
Changing your email password was a good first step. Make sure it is a very difficult one and not the same password you use anywhere else on the internet. You ought to also change your blog password to a very difficult one.
Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.
Use two step authentication http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/
Run a security scan on your computer http://geekflare.com/online-scan-website-security-vulnerabilities/
Never leave your computer logged into your blog and walk away from it. Always log out properly.

@timethief: With all due respect, I sent laupurpledream here because she says she had an unauthorized access to her account and because she specifically asked if WordPress.com keeps a backup of data in the event of unauthorized deletion.
I also asked her to add the “modlook” tag. (I don’t know if she had done that, but I just added it.)

@airodyssey – sort of a standard attitude
The backup system is not really designed for deleted site recovery – the cache time is very short – if my memory is correct a day or three – but I am not sure that I have seen the staff ever bring site content back from a site being cleared

@airodyssey
Hi there,
In all the years I have been here I have never seen Staff restore a deleted blog, regardless of who deleted it. That is why I expressed surprise.Yes, laupurpledream tagged the thread with modlook and only Staff can remove that tag.
@auxclass
I don’t detect any attitude at all here. What I see is 4 bloggers engaged in genuine conversation. -
P.S. Sorry about the delayed response. This last weekend was my 40th wedding anniversary weekend and we were very busy.
-
Sorry this happened to you. I’ll follow up with you via email to work on recovering your site.
