Blog Hacked or False Positive?
-
I received the following this morning from my chrome browser while navigating on my blog:
“aseerun.wordpress.com contains content from caosblog.com, a site known to distribute malware. Your computer might catch a virus if you visit this site.
Google has found malicious software may be installed onto your computer if you proceed. If you’ve visited this site in the past or you trust this site, it’s possible that it has just recently been compromised by a hacker. You should not proceed, and perhaps try again tomorrow or go somewhere else.
We have already notified caosblog.com that we found malware on the site. For more about the problems found on caosblog.com, visit the Google Safe Browsing diagnostic page.”I am not aware of this site: “caosblog.com” nor have ai put any content from the site on my blog as far as I remember. Any advice as to why this occurred? And what is the possibility of the blog being hacked, and how could I tell or fix / address the issue?

This message seems to appear only when attempting to go to the “habsiyya” page via the “http://aseerun.wordpress.com/category/habsiyya/” Category link at the top of the page. I am unsure why it seems isolated to there.

I viewed your blog using IE8 and experienced nothing unusual. You have a largish Flash Stride Park gum advertisement at the bottom of your post that I can see using IE8. WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade. I’ll log out and then log in and view blog with Firefox 7.0.1.

Thanks for letting me know about the ad- I had never seen it even when logged out.
I figured out that the message was caused by an image that I had linked to in a certain post. To solve it, I told Chrome to ignore the warning and access the post, then I unlinked the image, downloaded an alternate image and uploaded it into the post.
