Blog header disappears, blog looks different on other computers

Hi, I’m new to WordPress and have been spending hours trying to get it right before releasing it. I got everything perfectly the way I want it on my computer, and then when I went onto the blog on my Nexus tablet, the header image only appeared as a box with a question mark in the middle of it. When I clicked onto the blog on another computer, it looked awful, with no header image or any elements of the blog theme I’d chosen. What is going on and how can I make my blog appear the same on every computer/android/iphone etc.?

Would really really appreciate any help or advice! I have custom design, but when anyone says to go and edit css I have no idea where I have to go on my dashboard to edit css.

The blog I need help with is storytellvegan.wordpress.com.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    A couple of tips:

The biggest mistake I see new people making is holding on to their blog and not launching it until they’re certain every period is perfectly round, etc. No matter what problems your blog may have, being perfect is NEVER worth waiting for online.

In your instance, for example, there is a rotating, hard to predict bug going around WP.com that interferes with the display of images. You did nothing wrong, but you cannot fix this either. You have to wait for staff to fix it.

As well, because tablets, phones, and different types of computers and monitors display sites differently, you cannot make it look exactly the same in all of them unless you are a phenomenon at coding, and if you did, people wouldn’t thank you. Real websites are hard to read on phones; that’s why mobile and responsive themes were invented.

To edit your CSS, please go to the CSS forum and look at some of the suggested reading material at the head of the forum. They have instructions there.

Thanks so much for your reply! Were you able to see the header when you clicked onto the blog link? Its just frustrating as I spent ages working on a logo and would like it to appear on all viewings of the blog.

Also, the blog style appears right on all computers I’ve tried except one, so that’s not a problem really, its just the logo that wont show on all. For a friend, on safari and on chrome it did not show, only on an app he used. For another, she saw everything fine, and I use chrome and it appears for me. Any way I could contact staff to help me out with this?

Thanks for advice about holding onto the blog. I’m just a perfectionist…with zero computer skills! :P

I cannot see a header on that blog, but then I’ve never seen a header on the Spun theme even though it says it offers one. Not even on the demo page under “Custom header” http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/custom-header/?sort=newest

Staff are supposed to offer help for people with the Custom Design upgrade, but you might have to wait a day or so for them to get to you. Subscribe to the thread via the “Notify me of followup posts via email” button below the writing box and wait to hear back from them.

    re: the Spun theme

    Custom Header & Background
You can personalize your site with a custom header under Appearance → Header. This area works especially well for a small logo image, with recommended dimensions of 150 x 150 pixels: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/spun/

And no I do not see such a header on the blog at http://storytellvegan.wordpress.com/

Hi there, I went to your media library and looked for the URL of the image that was reflected in the source code for your site, and it looks like possibly it was deleted.

URL of the image reflected in the sourcecode:
    http://myveganodyssey.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/cropped-presentation2nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.jpg

    URLs found in Media Library:

    http://myveganodyssey.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/cropped-presentation2nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn1.jpg
    http://myveganodyssey.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/cropped-presentation2nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn2.jpg

At Appearance > Header, I clicked the checkbox beside the header image that was shown and saved and you now have a header image showing. If that is not the one you want, go to Appearance > Header and either select the one you want from your media library, or upload a new one.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I deleted the header image and tried to reload it smaller, 150×150, but that was just far too small so I reloaded my original image. Is it appearing now?

Yay, I see your header in Safari, Chrome and Firefox, so you are good to go, and you are welcome.
