I’m trying to link my blog to certain categories, Food blog in the food category
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I can help walk you through this!
When you create a new post (My Sites -> Blog Posts -> Add), on the right hand side you will see a menu and an option for “Categories & Tags.” Select that, add a new category (in this case, “Food”). Make sure “Food” is checked and then Publish/Save your post.
Next, go to My Sites -> Customize -> Menus -> Primary. Select “+Add Items.” A new menu will slide out. You should see a section for “Categories.” Select that, then select the category you’re looking to add (“Food”).
A menu item for “Food” should now be created! You can re-order the menu however you would like, then select “Save & Publish” near the top.

Thank you very much!! I was also wondering does my website pop up in Google? Or do I just give my friends the website link everytime they want to see it?

Slowly and gradually it will move up depending upon the content you share, although it is not an instant process

Yup! @Kalijeeri is right! It can take time. If your blog is new, it can take up to 4-6 weeks for Google to add and “crawl” your site so that it comes up in searches.
If you’re interested in trying to speed up the process, you can add meta tags for Google Search Console. There are instructions on how to do that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Note that WordPress.com automatically notifies Google whenever you add a new post, so the step above is entirely optional. It’s not necessary in order for your website to become indexed.
