Blog interfering with website

  • Unknown's avatar

I am creating a practice website at Siteground in a class. I have a blog at WordPress and WordPress is what we are using for the practice website. In the process we were told how to switch from a website to a blog. Is that why I can no longer separate my website and my blog? I have no admin bar on my website and I am unable to control or customize it. I am ready to delete my WordPress blog to see if that will fix the problem.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

Blog and website are interchangeable terms. All WordPress.com (and WordPress.org) sites have blogging and website-building capabilities. It largely depends on the layout of the site.

A blog, for example, has the latest blog posts on the homepage. As new posts are published, the homepage is updated with the new posts. This keeps the homepage dynamic and always updating.

On the other hand, a traditional website would have a static page set as the homepage.

Having said that, there are two versions of WordPress – WordPress.com and WordPress.org. We help with WordPress.com sites on this forum. I see you mentioned in your other post that you need help with louhardt.com.

That site is hosted by Siteground and is completely separate from your WordPress.com site. A WordPress site hosted by other companies like Siteground uses the free WordPress.org software. There are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you aren’t sure about them, please check the following page that explains it well: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.

You can try logging into your site directly at http://louhardt.com/wp-login.php or use the Reset Password option there to reset the password. If you still need help logging in, please contact Siteground support.
