Blog is gone!

  • Unknown's avatar

I created 2 blogs under the same address and deleted one of them. I was able to add posts to the second blog (under a different blog title) until today when I logged in and it said ‘blog has been deleted’. Please, can someone help me get my blog back again?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I’m so sorry about that. We’re having an issue with duplicate blogs. I have deleted and removed the duplicate blog and your blog has been restored!

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Hi there Gracie. Thanks for helping me restore it the other time. I’ve since been able to post a couple more posts on the blog but today it seems that the site has been deleted again! Is it possible to help me restore as well as inform your colleagues not to delete it please? It’s really important to me as it documents my entire pregnancy and parenting journey and I do have several followers on the blog who like to read my posts. . Thank you.
    Joyce

    Hi Joyce,

After looking into your account I found that your site was not deleted. Please note that deleted blogs are permanent so I don’t think your site was ever deleted (except for the duplicate blog).

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Grace, it was the day before when I was trying to post a blog entry when I couldn’t do it and came to a page that read: the authors have deleted this site. Yesterday I tried again and it came back on. Is there a technical glitch that causes me to get this from time to time or was it some site management issue? In any case I’m glad that it’s back now. Do let me know if there’s anything I should or can do to prevent this from happening again. Thanks very much! :)

    Hi there,

It must be your browser’s cache. Each time you access a web page, your web browser stores a temporary copy of the files needed to display the web page to you. Those temporary files are called the browser cache. If your cache is not updating properly or if it’s stuck, you could be viewing an older version (the deleted blog) of some of the supporting files that run WordPress.com. If you clear the cache, this will force your browser to fetch all of the files for a website again, so you will see the most recent version of the page.

Can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?

    Hi Grace,
I tried to post a blog again today and the minute I tried to view it after publishing it I came to the “melittlepotato.wordpress.com is not available. The authors have deleted this site” page.
I have tried clearing as per your instructions above, and that didn’t work either. I suspect it’s not the cache as it happened to not just my computer but also my phone browser as well as an error occurring in my wordpress app when I tried to refresh it. Any way we could look into solving this problem please?

    Hi Grace,
On second thoughts would it be easier if I just migrated all my posts to another site address? Something like “mylittlepotato.wordpress.com”?
Because it is quite annoying to have to face this issue once every two weeks when I try to post something. :( it also affects my stats. .

    Hi there,

Can you try one more time? There might have been a glitch with the deleted blog.

Let me know if you are still having this issue.

    Thanks.

    Hi Grace,
I just tried again. . Nope. No luck. .
The thing is that I had 2 blogs under different names using the same Web address. But I only wanted to delete one and keep the other. I don’t know how it ended up that one got deleted and the other appears and disappears at whim. If there is no other solution I might have to really migrate all my things to another more stable blog when it finally decides to appear. Thanks.

    Sorry Grace,
Weird but after I posted my last reply and tried one more time it’s back again! Should I expect it to disappear again and migrate or should I monitor the situation?

  • Unknown's avatar

I don’t think there should be any more issues. It looks like everything is working as it should!

    Cheers!

Is there staff available to help answer my questions?

    Hi!

I deleted my blog but realized later that I would like to use it. Could you help me retrieve it? Is there anyway possible?

    Thank you, Jennifer Stankiewicz

    @medinacreativetherapyranch
The deleted blog URL will not become available again. I’m sorry but you cannot recover or register any deleted blog URL. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click. Once clicked the blog URL is forever gone, gone, gone.

You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

    @medinacreativetherapyranch-

    Hi there,

Please note that @timethief is correct. Once a site is permanently deleted, there is no way of bringing it back. We make sure that all users understand this throughout the deletion process.

Please sign up for a new blog through the link that timethief provided you.

I’m so sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

    Hi there Grace,
Trouble again today. . Now I cannot access my dashboard. I think I’d better migrate all my contents to a new site and delete this old blog because of the numerous errors. Could you help me to gain access to my dashboard for me to do so please? ? Thank you. .

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

What do you mean you cannot access your Dashboard? Is it an account recovery issue with the password or can you not view your Dashboard?

If it is the latter, that’s most likely a browser issue. Can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?

Also please try using a different browser – either Google Chrome or Firefox:

They are usually a bit more stabled than Internet Explorer.
