Blog is in Redemption Period

    I realized recently that I’ve accidentally allowed my domain name (meganmakeever.com) to expire. I had my blog set up to automatically renew, but I recently got a new credit card and forgot to update my payment options… and here we are.

    According to WhoIs.com, my domain is in its redemption period, and I want to recover it as soon as possible. I understand that I need to pay a retrieval fee at this point, and the instructions on my dashboard indicate that I need staff support to actually get the domain name back. I’ve already filled out a wordpress support form a couple of days ago, following a direct link from the expiration notice on my dashboard, but I’m still waiting for a reply.

    I’m worried that retrieving the name will be even more cumbersome than usual because I can’t seem to enter new credit card information. Because all my upgrades are currently expired, I don’t have an option to ‘Update Credit Card’ on anything, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to add billing information to my profile. Please let me know what I should do!

    The domain, meganmakeever.com, is not registered with WordPress.com. It used to be registered here, but was transferred away from us in 2014. It also belonged to a different username account than you’re using to post here. According to the Whois information that domain is currently registered with Bluehost.com:

    You will need to contact them to renew that domain.

    Hiiiiiii! I’m so sorry thats not my blog I seemed to have accidentally copy and pasted that question searching through the forums because its the same problem I had. My blog’s name is caribchic.com

  • Thanks for providing the correct domain.

    That domain is indeed in redemption with our registrar. They charge a $80 fee to restore a domain once it reaches this point. I’ve emailed you a link to pay for the recovery and renewal. Please let me know if you don’t receive it.

    I will be notified once you pay, and then I can contact the registrar to try and recover the domain. If the recovery fails your payment will be refunded in full.

  • I’ve just received notification of your payment, but I also see why you didn’t get the payment link:

    The domain is associated with another account, username zallamby, not zallamby2013, and that account uses a different email address. Sorry I didn’t notice that sooner. I’m only able to restore the domain to the zallamby account.

    Can you still access that username account? If so, can you please log into that account and reply here as that username? Meanwhile I’ll get the recovery process started with the registrar.
