Blog is not used anymore

    This question is about the wordpress blog

    The blog is about a group which belongs to the german LGBT association LSVD. The actual group was reformed a month ago. None of the former leaders knows who created the wordpress blog. So we have a problem with having this old blog (last entry 2012!) which will be found by everyone who is looking for the ILSE Karlsruhe group on the internet. Is there any possibility for you to contact the owner of this blog and telling him/her to get in touch with us? We would like to update the page and use it which is why we need the login. Otherwise it would be so helpful to erase this wordpress blog which is obviously not in use anymore. I just created a new login as “ilsekarlsruheblog” so that I will be able to use this contact forum. I hope you can help us! We could give you an official declaration from the LSVD e.V. that we have the right to use the group name ILSE Karlsruhe if that helps.

    A WordPress.com site is owned by the person who registered it and only that person can delete it. WordPress.com will not contact the site owner for you or delete it for you.

    If there is an open comment form or contact form on that site, I suggest leaving a comment there.

    Even if the site is not or cannot be deleted, since, as you say, the last post was from 2012, you should quickly be able to outstrip that site in search engine returns by frequently posting new material to your own website.

    As Jen mentioned, there’s really not much that can be done if you can’t get in touch with the owner of that site. I recommend you try contacting any folks who might have started the site, to see if they still have access to it.

    If you can’t find that person, as Jen says, you should be able to address this by building a site that’s frequently updated. If you want to use a similar name, try registering a domain name. https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/

    I can add to this,… as Chris said…

    One option would be to create your own “brand” or blog name, as someone experienced in search engine optimization, I can tell you it will not be too difficult to outrank the site you mentioned if the last post was 2012, because Google prefers to list sites that are frequently updated (with many more factors)…

    So, while it’s sad that you can not take your name, it might be better anyway if you shine with your own name, you can still use the keywords like Karlsruhe in your name, you can be creative at that point.

    The reason why WordPress staff won’t disable the other blog or get in contact with the blog owner, is because they protect our all privacy, which is great for us all. But as said, you have options, with creativity you can sort out the problem ;)

    A brand is the name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller’s product distinct from those of others.
