Blog isn't showing up to web

  • Unknown's avatar

My blog is not showing up on the web and taking people to other blogs with similar spelled blogs suck as thegreenloop etc.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes it is. There it is, right there http://thegreencoop.wordpress.com/

If you want to know why it’s not showing up on Google, that’s because there is only one sentence in the blog. Blog more.

And your blog is only two hours old. Takes 4 to 6 weeks for a new site to show up in search engines, and that is only if you have something worth indexing

I’m having the same trouble and I am very upset about knowing this information. When I purchased the domain, there was no mention that I could not use it right away, nor in what format to present it to the public (e.g., http://…), and that it may not be indexed on search engines. I have used my web address in a display ad that came out today, 24 hours after the webpage was created, with lots of information. I hope someone will post something on this topic that refutes some of this information you provide here!

Refute what? My answer is very very correct.

Now about your issues, I did not say you could not use a domain name or URL, just that a new site will not search well until you have lots of content and that it takes time for search engines to index a new site. I have tested that by the way on one of my new sites. New site = 4 to 6 weeks to be indexed by search engines, but anyone could visit the new site, I just needed to send them a link.

If you purchased a custom domain name and mapped it to an existing blog here, a few things to keep in mind, the old links will keep working, once the name servers are changed it can take up to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet so that traffic can reliably reach the new domain name. Changes usually start after a few hours but it still takes time for access to become reliable – this is an issue I usually deal with 5 or 6 times a day in the forum by the way.

Sorry you did not do your homework

    @anasolimar8

the staff confirmed a few hours ago what I told you yesterday – asking the same question over and over will not change the results

There’s sweet muck all in the blog. A single Post with muck all for content ie. no text at all but with a whack of tags assigned to it characterizes you as a spammer to search engine bots.

Tags are not required for SEO purposes and search spiders index textual content. See here and witness Matt Cutts of Google stating that http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/03/01/revisiting-keywords-and-tags/
Then note that BING spiders use tags only when comparing keywords in tags to the textual content in posts. If the keywords are not in the textual content in posts then they assume you are a spammer.

It takes weeks for search engines to index content. What attracts search engines is unique content in posts that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. Start now publishing original content posts frequently two or even three times weekly. For more information read > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/

The process we use for verifying free hosted WordPress.com blogs with search engines is found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don’t feel panicky about this please.

WordPress.com provides the search engines with site maps. We bloggers do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/

Lastly note that we cannot assist with search engine issues. They are between the blogger and the search engine. http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

@TT – the went and the staff refuted their request to refute my facts – just another “I want my day old blog #1 with a bullet” even when i have no content –

Like I said before – I tested the timing when I first brought up The Cannery Hack – checked Google every couple of days – quite a bit of new content, at about 4 weeks things started looking sort of OK then Google decided to re-index the whole universe and The Cannery Hack dropped COMPLETELY out of the search results for several days – talk about a shock on that day –

The other problem is just getting noticed on the web – lots of sites out there – I suspect that you search well for any blog key words – some words do fine for my site others not so well – but as my site has gotten larger the traffic has built a bit at a time – very slow since I am a marketing & PR dunce (actually don’t do much) – but that is my bad and not a search engine issue

I figured it was because my blog was new. Also thank you all for the added input on seo. I started a blog to begin with in order to drive my website. Any other great pointers for a beginner?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes: if staff feel that the primary purpose of your blog here is to drive traffic to your website, it will be suspended. WP.com is meant to be a home for original blogging.

  • Unknown's avatar

Well, my whole intention is not to drive traffic to my website just partially. I intend to link to other sites as well and also generally talk about living green etc.
