blog landing page – v – static front page – assist request
-
Hi all,
We have a page in our menu , ‘BLOG’ – this is where our blogs will live.
However, we want the landing page to be a different page , ‘US’.
When we set the new static front page to ‘US’ and then try to select the ‘BLOG’ page for blogs . . . that page isn’t in the list!
How can we set this up?
Muchos in advance.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have to set up a new blank page, called “blog” (or whatever you like) in order to select it as your blogging page.
-
As of this minute, you now have two pages called blog. You need to call your static page “Us” instead.
-
Brill – cept now we have 2 x ‘BLOG’ tabs!
The original – when viewed in the menu structure – when you click the down arrow – states ‘custom’ when all the others say ‘page’.
It also shows a URL which the others don’t.
Are we being stooopid?

Did that – at least we used the menu custom tools to set the front page as ‘US’ – is that correct?
Or is there another way to define a static page?
Many thanks so far.

Get rid of the custom menu for now.
Oh, please read the link I gave you. This must be done, not on a custom menu, but like so:
dashboard—>settings—>reading—>choose your static page and then your blog page—>save -
did read the link and have checked reading setting agree with theme customisation.
we were concerned that the url appeared in the original ‘BLOG’ menu structure – so is is deffo ok to delete that menu item?
-
Yes, you have it now. You can rearrange the order of the pages to your liking in custom menu.
-
we deleted the title of the cusom menu page so it does not appear as a selectable tab.
massive thanks.
