Blog looks wrong on mobile devices
-
Hi,
I have spend lots of time tweaking my blog to look good on a computer and I have assumed that it would look the same on mobile devices. Unfortunately this seems not to be the case. When looking at the blog on an iPhone the header is turned on (it should be off), in the widget area the author and “Follow blog via email” widgets appear (they should not be in the footer widget area) and most of the footer widgets I have set up when the blog is displayed on a computer (e.g. text widgets and links to social media) do not appear. Can this be fixed? Also, is there any way images can automagically scale (i.e. become smaller) when the blog is viewed on a mobile device?
Thanks,
Mario

Hi Mario,
You can try activating the mobile theme in Appearance -> Mobile to accomplish what you want.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

When looking at the blog on an iPhone the header is turned on (it should be off)
Since you have a custom header image active in Appearance -> Header, it’ll also appear in the mobile theme.
in the widget area the author and “Follow blog via email” widgets appear (they should not be in the footer widget area)
When viewing the mobile theme with that particular theme (Oxygen) activated, only the widgets in the Primary Sidebar will appear after all your posts since there isn’t a sidebar in the mobile theme.
Also, is there any way images can automagically scale (i.e. become smaller) when the blog is viewed on a mobile device?
Yes, with the mobile theme active, images in your posts or pages will be automatically fit the screen width.

I would like the header text to not appear. It is turned off in Appearance : Header, but still appears in the mobile theme of the blog. How do I turn it off?
The author and “Follow blog via email” widgets only appear in the primary sidebar of the blog page. All other pages are full width (i.e. without sidebars). I need it to be the same in the mobile theme.

The header text can’t be separately disabled in the mobile theme, nor can the widgets be displayed differently, but I have made note of your request for that.

Would I be able to disable the header text in the mobile theme if I had Custom Design upgrade?
-
No, the Custom Design upgrade only affects the main theme. At this time, there is no way to modify the mobile theme.
