blog made private but still got previous followers, how to remove?

  Hi!
  I made my blog private via the Settings.
  But the blog shows the previous followers are still subscribed, even though i made it private and did not send out any invitation yet.
  One of htem was able to view it as wel.
  How can i resolve this? I would like to make it private and only let people i INVITE to view .
