Blog name change effecting my stats?

  Changed my blog name a while ago, and now my stats are down. I’ve had no “likes” and no wordpress views since. It’s as if I’m not showing up in the Reader anymore. Can this be fixed?

  Hi there. I notice you use a very high number of categories and tags in your latest post. This could in fact prevent your blog from appearing in topics listings in the Reader as the software interprets it as spam if you use more than 15 categories and tags in total. I count 25 on your latest post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts

  I just followed your blog to test and it does appear in the Reader feed for your followers, but it doesn’t show up if I do a topic search in the Reader, due to the problem I mentioned above. You can easily fix this by reducing the number of categories and tags assigned to each post.

  Another possibility: did you change your blog title or address (URL)? If you changed the address, people who were following you via RSS are probably not following you anymore as they would not have been switched over to the new address automatically like your WordPress.com followers.

  If you changed the title it might be that your regular followers don’t realise that it’s the same blog, just with a different name. This is why it’s always a good idea to announce in a post beforehand if you plan to change either the blog address or the blog title.

  Also note that if you changed the address it basically resets your search ranking, so Google and other search engines have to re-index your site from scratch before people will start seeing it in search results again.

  Those are my best guesses why you’ve seen a drop in your stats. I suggest fixing the category/tag issue and see if that makes a difference.

  Also try clearing your browser cache and cookies in case it’s a browser issue that’s just preventing your stats from updating. That happens sometimes. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

  I’ll try using less tags next time, and look into making a (very delayed) announcement on my blog about the name change.

  Remember, with tagging less is more. Don’t even use fifteen. Use even fewer than that. Pick the few terms that are absolutely the most descriptive of the content in your post and use only those. People will actually find your posts more easily if you do this.
