blog name not accepted

  Testing with free version. It defaulted to using part of my email address for the blog name. When I tried to change it to the “free” name I wanted (as shown in Getting Started Guide, e.g.”Everyone who registers for a site with WordPress.com gets a free address that looks like this: http://ourfabulousbusiness.wordpress.com:”) it balked.

  I don’t want to go to a lot of work in experimenting with themes, creating an “About Me”, and making a post, only to find out I will have to re-register to get the blog name I actually want. What to do?

  Double check to see that the name you want hasn’t been taken already. In 99% of these cases, that’s the cause.

  Thanks… don’t think that was the problem. In going through the steps I followed I realized that what I probably did was gave a name with spaces in it like “i am an idiot”, rather than “iamanidiot”. It didn’t give me a message that name was not available; just wouldn’t let me continue and didn’t give any feedback as to problem. Will just start again or go with what I have which will be easier for friends to remember.
