Blog Not Displaying Properly – Missing CSS?

  • Unknown's avatar

It started this morning on a MAC, anytime I tried to use the WordPress Blogg, only got text down the left hand side of teh screen, no formatting at all (as if the CSS file was missing). Then this evening (BTW am in Ireland – GMT Winter Time), when I got home booted up laptop (Windows) and got in first time with correct formatting – but after updating, the reply was very slow and I was back again with unformatted data. Have been trying for the last half hour, and about one try out of twenty, I get a properly formatted screen, but invariably when I try to upload a change, I am back to text only. Also, when this happens, the system appears very very very slow.

Anyone got any ideas (on the forums, the last time I saw this happen was back in March of this year when there was a server problem – could there be a similar problem over on this side of the pond?)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you talking about in the dashboard or on the blog itself?

Hi, this is in the dashboard and, believe it or not it is now on this support forum post :( Oh, just checked and it is now the same on the normal blog as well. So, on all the WordPress accesses. Network is fine on all other websites, not slow or anything.

On WordPress (dashboard) it spends about 20-30 seconds ‘connecting …’ then about the same (or longer) waiting for pixel.quantserv.com …

Sounds like you have an ISP issue. Several ISPs have changed their security settings recently and disallowed images, even CSS, from WordPress.com. Contact yours and see what they can do for you.

WordPress forum is OK again, and I have to say that the last post was teh only time that the forum had displayed ‘without any formatting’, it was a rare exception. Whereas teh dashboard has been without formatting virtually all day (for me)

    Hi Raincoaster,

Had not noticed your post. Thanks for that info, I will check with my ISP in the morning – but, on reflection, not sure if that can be the problem. Because if they have disallowed images etc, then I should never get a formatted reply – ever – but I am getting the odd properly formatted screen.

Also, this morning I was accessing from a local university and this evening I am out in the country – totally different ISPs etc. But I will check out with my ISP in the morning – just in case.

    Thanks,

P.S. just got a friend who uses a completely different ISP and exactly the same.

I don’t know that this will help, but try logging out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again.

I found the same issue in home pages (wordpress.com, gl.wordpress.com, etc.). Thera are no columns, most of page formate are gone. Just in home pages and in some of their links.

… and also slow loading a few hours ago.
Oliver is in Ireland (?), I’m in Spain. Different ISP, I suppose.

but under the same low pressure weather, hard rain an strong wind.
May be that both ISP are wet …
