Blog Not Found

  • Unknown's avatar

I was working on my blog and clicked to view it and a message popped up that said my blog was not found. I made two blog post today and they have both disappeared. I put links to these blogs on my facebook page. I clicked on the links to see if they were working and I get the same message. When I type in furbabiesphoto.wordpress.com, it says nothing is found. Any ideas as to what happened? Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I’m not having any trouble viewing furbabiesphoto.wordpress.com. I’m seeing a post about “keep calm and love dogs”. Is that what I should be seeing?

staff-ozmodiar the “keep calm love dogs” post was a sort of “fake” post, if you will. I read a forum on here that was similar to the problems I’m having and it advise to make a new post to get everything back because the place holder page on the front was missing. So I posted the “keep calm and love dogs” post.
Yesterday, I had made a Welcome post regarding the New Year as well as a post about the Beauty in Black & White Images. I had also had my cover image on there within the template I had chosen and several other widgets that I had set up i.e. facebook page like, email contact, and business hours.
While I was working on my blog, I clicked to view the blog as it was and it deleted everything. It turned into what you see now. The black and white template and it kept telling me “Not Found” and to search for the content with a search box.
I had linked the two blogs that I had created on my facebook page, I tried to clink on those and I got the same “Not Found” message.
When I am in my Reader, I can see the two blogs that I posted yesterday. If I click on them to read further, it takes me to that black and white template and at first it kept showing the “Not Found, Search for Content”, but now it shows the “Keep Calm and Love Dogs” Post.

WOW! Thanks for your quick response! It seems to be working now. I didn’t do anything different. Could you please tell me how to avoid this in the future? It seems to happen everyday when I try to make a post or when I sign in.

I am having these same problems with my posts disappearing. They appear for awhile, I even share them on facebook. Then at some point when you try to link from facebook or go to my blog page, you get the 404 Not Found error. Mine too show up in “My Stuff” but not in the posts from my dashboard or anywhere else. When I click them from “My Stuff” you get the 404 Not Found error also. I am getting very frustrated. If anyone can help, that would be great. I don’t see any answers of what to do in this thread. I have my front page set to be a static page where all my posts should appear, if this is helpful.

    @lauraleclair
The blog linked to your username appears to be devoid of blogger created content as far as I can tell http://peaceloveandreallife.wordpress.com/
Please post the URL of the exact blog you are referring to. Without it you are dead in the water. With it, provided it is a free hosted WordPress.COM blog then Staff can assist you.

Unfortunately it wasn’t devoid of content. I had posted three different posts, which I have had to recreate numerous times. They keep disappearing. You had the correct URL. How do I contact staff? I can’t seem to find anywhere other than the forum and have posted a couple different times and this is the first response I have gotten. I just changed my home page to be a static page as I saw that to be a suggestion in another thread, and then recreated my three posts once again. The posts appear for awhile after I create them, and share them on facebook. Then all of a sudden they disappear. I can see them in the “Your Stuff” section of the dashboard, but the links still take you to the 404 Not Found page. They don’t appear at all in the “Activity” section of the dashboard or the Posts. They are there at the moment because I recreated them, but I don’t know how long they will remain given that this has been occurring over the past 3 days. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had posted three different posts, which I have had to recreate numerous times. They keep disappearing.

If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash

(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)

But if the post was created here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ there is no means of recovery as the auto-save is not functioning there.

Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
The auto-save works there and the post will be Standard post format unless you change it.

Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the auto-save is not working and where you are creating an Aside post format.

Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

    How do I contact staff?

This thread is already tagged for Staff attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Will you also let us know:
    (a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com?
    (b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ ?

I am using a laptop and IE10 to connect to the internet and to wordpress.com. I have also accessed my site from the app on my iPhone using iOS5. However, I have not made any posts or updated or edited anything from my phone app.

All of the posts that I have created were created from my dashboard>posts>all posts>new. Every single one was created for public viewing, and they all published because I shared them to my facebook page, and viewed them myself multiple times. There was no way to view revisions or recover them from the trash because the posts completely disappeared. When I clicked on posts from the dashboard, it would tell me there were no posts. After numerous times of recreating them, each time I would get a message congratulating me for publishing my first post although I had made numerous posts previously. I could see them in the “Your Stuff” section on the dashboard, but they would not appear under the “Activity” section at all. They currently appear in both places and on my site after recreating them yet again this afternoon. At one point I saw a message when trying to link to the page from clicking the edit button next to it in the “Your Stuff” section, that told me I was trying to edit a post that was in the trash, but when going to my posts, it was as if there was nothing there again. Said no posts, and therefore no link to trash. When creating all of my posts originally, they all saved drafts, and I was able to publish them, all to disappear at some point. As I stated earlier here, all posts are currently appearing on my site at the moment, but this has been going on for 4 days now. I did set the site to open to a static page and created a home page for the posts to appear on after reading some recommendations in other threads. Maybe that will be the solution, I don’t know. Another little weird thing that was occurring was that at the same time that my posts would have disappeared, I would see strange posts in the “Activity” section that were from months ago, and not posts that I created. When I would try to link to them it wouldn’t take me anywhere. In addition, settings that I created and saved have disappeared at times as well. Thank you for your suggestions above, I hope to get this figured out.

Lauraleclaire, I’m so sorry you are going through this! I feel your pain! My blog would constantly disappear and fix itself. I finally deleted my blog and went with Blogger. WordPress seems only to be helpful if you have a web host. If you are using the free site it is useless. It was quite embarrassing when I would tell people to check out my blog only to find out it could no longer be found. I recommend going to a blog site that works.

It appears that the problem of disappearing posts has been fixed by creating a static home page and having my posts go to a different page.
